Sorry to be so nosey but I will soon need to buy a couple of sofas but need some inspiration. I was hoping not to spend more than £1000 for two but wondered if this was feasible. If possible could you link to an image of the one you've got. Cheers!

Deffo have a good look on ebay. Yes you will have to pay transport but the bargains are there. Chesterfields are not overly comfy but they would look fab in a barn coversion. Look for something quite old with slightly cracked leather. Yes they are warm, leather warms with your skin I find.

One is second hand, and re-covered. The other is from Sofa Sofa... v good value for money IMO.

I've my parent's old one in the living room and my own choice of one in the family room.

Both are from Sofa Sofa. They are cheap and have taken years of abuse.

Wow sleepycat, £16 for an ektorp sofa! That's a real bargain. I think I've decided against leather now as we already have a couple of leather ones and I do find they are cold on the bits you're not sitting on. Still don't know whether to go trad or modern.

Beachcomber - I'm in the Limousin (87) and it's been colder than a witch's tit here for the last couple of days. Unfortunately we're in mobile homes at the moment {shock].

£5 for an excellent two seater from the auction + comission, it is a lovely comfy sofa and came with extra loose covers. This one I found on line as retails at £400

£5 for a sprung metal action sofa bed in black - not so comfy to sit on but ok and we have a lovely throw over it. Again from the auction and had to pay comission

£3.75 is the cheapest it is a lovely really squish sofa very comfy and again have a throw over it - it came with with an armchair but that went to the tip as we didn't have enough room for it. had to pay commision on that one as well cos it came from the auction. it is a really good make apparently as friend told me - i didn't tell her how chea it was, just that it was a bargin.

there are always second hand sofa's there and they have to be fire prooof to sell, you can get some bargins

I have this sofa:

images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.chesterfield-sofas.de/images/Maximus.jpg&imgrefurl=http ://www.chesterfield-sofas.de/maximus.htm&usg=__k86sCmOwPu-L_FqrRr9W6JA5d-8=&h=569&w=821&sz=81&hl=en& start=27&tbnid=3cEJSM9hZzB92M:&tbnh=100&tbnw=144&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dduresta%2Bsofa%26start%3D20%26gb v%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN

which cost a small fortune 10 years ago from House of Fraser (£2k I think which included a chair and footstool). However it is still going strong and looks as good today as it the day it was bought.

I see them on eBay now for a few hundred £££ bargaintastic!

two 3 seaters from Next about 4 years old and were 700 each. Pretty much ready for replacement now though.
