There's lots of water at the bottom (where filter is) have tried taking all bits out but still a puddle of water there.

I'm a dishwasher newbie so please tell me what to do.

Do you have a drain setting? Or just put everything back and run it on a short programme empty. That normally sorts mine out.

AnAngelWithin · 18/11/2008 13:27

buy some of these

FeelingLucky · 18/11/2008 13:27

No, no drain setting

Would a plunger work?

I think the machine has to drain it rather than you. What would happen if you switched it on?

FeelingLucky · 18/11/2008 13:35

might empty and put on quick wash.
worried about flooding the kitchen though

Do you have a turkey baster? Get as much of the water as you can out with a cup or something similar, then the tiny bit left at the end with a turkey baster. Chances are a tiny bit of pasta or a pea will be sucked up too. Then switch it back on and see what happens.

We have to do this once in a while with ours.

chuffinell · 18/11/2008 13:40

feeling licky

my dh is a plumber - when ours puddled up he said switch it on again, because the first thing it does is drain

good luck!

chuffinell · 18/11/2008 13:41

licky??? feelinglucky i meant of course!!

chunkychips · 18/11/2008 13:42

has it always got the water at the bottom? mine is a bit temperamental, it sometimes has water at the bottom after a wash, but when you turn it on again for the next wash it drains out and carries on fine. is it washing okay otherwise?

FeelingLucky · 18/11/2008 13:44

okay everyone, no turkey baster but I'm going to ladle out as much water as possible (even if I have to lick it out all the remaining water myself myself ... only joking) and then put it on quick wash

Does it have a reset button/ buttons? Press it if it does. I once called a plumber out for the same problem you have, he gave me a withering look and pressed reset - hey presto, water drained away.

FeelingLucky · 18/11/2008 14:23

You lot are just brilliant!
Problem now solved.
Thank you all very much
