Make mulled wine?
Make those clove-studded oranges that were fashionable c. 1972?

Pomanders?

We always used to make them at school.

Bake cinammon apples?

Lemontart · 18/11/2008 10:33

I burn essential oils as an alternative to plug ins. Orange, frankincence will a little cedarwood on the go now and smells wonderful in here.
The bottles seem a little pricey but last a long time. I don?t really like candles in the daytime so find the oil burners helpful in the home.
You can get a range of pre mixed Christmas frangance oils to burn or use the essential oils - up to you.

If you just want a subtle smell, then a few drops of essential oils like green mandarin, cinnamon and frankincense in a little bowl of water will give a lovely smell. If you want it to be stronger then warm the water.

I have some Prices tealights, bought from local bog standard DIY shop, which are Apple Spice fragrance and absolutely lush. You'd love them.

Some lovely MNers recommended yankee candles for my poorly relative and she loves the aroma.

Waitrose do a really lovely range of christmassy candles. We got the red one in a tin (£3 I think) it seems to be lasting well and smells lovely.

Body shop do a gingerbread oil-it is lovely. I burnt it yesterday and today 2 people asked if I had been baking!

SomeKindofWonderful · 18/11/2008 21:42

cinnimon joss sticks, or essential oil in a burner.

Lovely.

Make mulled wine every night.

fossa · 18/11/2008 21:44

Second mulled wine every night. Just finished mine.

When you put your Christmas Tree up buy some scented stars to put on the branches. Lakeland, just up the road from me, do these and they smell of cinamon, lovely and very christmassy.
