Help my washing machine has died....advice needed for a new one

Its finally happened after 10 years my hotpoint has given up. It just won't finish a cycle, I have clothes stuck in there with water inside.
Anyhow....on the up side it means I can get a new one .....DH will have a fit when he wakes at having to spend more money....
So i need advice, I know Miele are the best but i need a washer dryer with at least 7kg dry load and I can't seem to find a washer dryer with more than 5kg from miele or bosch, however LG do one that fits the bill...anyone have any experience of LG washing machines?

DON'T BUY AN LG!!!

My mum paid around £600 for a big load one wih washer drier about 18M ago and it has never worked! She has to empty the pump everytime she uses it as if it gets so much as a piece of fluff in it it leaks, the drier has been broken about 8 times and the repair people are crap they once left her washing machine unplugged at the taps without saying honestly total waste of money!

I realise this is just one account but even the people in Currys told me to steer clear of them when I was buying.

I have a 6kg one which if fab it's Ariston and it only cost £349.99 from Curry's have had it 2Years and it's great.

HTH.

Here's some

Glad I asked!! Thanks for that Mamadiva. Will keep away from LG then. I'm now thinking maybe I should get a washer rather than a washer dryer as our electric bills are through the roof and I think its because I used the tumble too much. Although I hate the idea of having washing drying around the house. I might be able to squeeze a standalone tumble dryer in the spare room upstairs if it gets bad. I've just read a report that you should always buy separate appliances as they are more efficient that way. Anyone love their machine....I'm all ears?

Have you called someone out to take a look at your machine first before spending out on a new one?

Mine did this, stopped mid cycle but my local supplies place sent someone out and it was only the brushes needing to be replaced.

Much better to have separate washer and dryer. We keep the latter in the garage with a catflap in the side door for the vent hose!

Apart from being intrinsically more efficient, you're a bit more likely to think about whether things have to be tumble dried or not if you've got to transfer them.

I have a new Hotpoint one with big load space and, most brilliantly, a child lock (so no more mid cycle programme changes courtesy of DS!)

My former Bosch one was horrendous and would not recommend- regularly faulty v expensive parts/call outs.

10 years with your old Hotpoint one is a good innings - why do you not want another one from them?

I'm not going to tell you how good my 6 year old Bosch is just in case it conks on me
