Clean and stylish ladies - please help me keep my new bathroom looking nice - top tips?!

We've just had our bathroom re-done, nothing fancy and quite a small room, but finally have proper tiles on walls and floor, new bath, no leaks and grotty bits etc! The old one was so dire I'm embarrassed to say we more or less gave up on it, but I want to keep this one nice - can anyone more domesticated than me help?!

Specifically...

  1. what are the alternatives to keeping your shampoo etc on the side of the bath (shower over bath, not a cubicle)? I hate seeing them on the side, plus I think it helps contribute to pools of skanky water gathering - but when we tried putting them in the cabinet afterwards I just got a skanky wet cabinet shelf.
  2. what is the best way of keeping a nice glass shower screen squeaky clean? (a daily squeegee or something??)
  3. good product recommendations?

(Now that I've got a new bathroom I really need to get a life, but these things literally kept me awake last night! )

2: 'shower shine' every single time you use the shower.

Hope a cleaner mn comes along soon!

Yes, def spray after every shower (I keep the bottle in the shower with me, then I don't forget) You don't have to squeedgee, just spray and leave while the door is still wet.
I love Method shower spray (Tesco's, Sains and Waitrose stock it)

I have a bath bridge that I keep my bath stuff on..or you can get suction caddies to keep bottles in on the wall, if you don't want to drill into your new tiles..

Also, wipe around the bath after someone has had a bath. the muck thats left behind in ours is outraegeous.

i did want to drill into the tiles, but DH almost had a fit!

bluecow is shower shine a make? or just shower spray in general?

Thanks!

shower shine is the brand, made by Mr Muscle. But it has to be squeaky clean to start (maybe descaler spray first)

and to avoid drilling, use those locking fittings (in Argos, HOmebase, Woolworths etc) which work well. Twist and lock, I think is the name. Work v well and come in eg 2 or 3 tier, soap rack, corner rack etc

Blimey, you'd think my bathrooms were immaculate. How wrong you'd be....

It is squeaky clean atm - only cos it just came out the wrapper 2 days ago!

I got a rack of shelves that hangs over the door for all my bits and bobs, keeps them off the bath edge like you say coz of water spills and keeps everything hidden away, very tidy.
We used to have shower cubicle seperate from bath before we moved and I'd give it a quick wipe with dettol bathroom spray while ds was splashing in bath every night. I'd dry it too to stop water marks.

Shower shine stuff is fab for tiles. Now and again I scrub the tiles and grout with bleach, then leave that for a while, rinse, then shower shine again. I use the Tesco own brand stuff.

Don't dry when the shower shine is on - you just leave that once you've sprayed it.

I also have the sucker things for shampoo etc. Don't overload them though - they always fall down in the middle of the night!

Do you live in a hard or soft water area?

Ambi · 16/11/2008 09:35

That shower spray never works for me. I use car shampoo with wax, just some cheap asda stuff, and at the end of my shower use a big car sponge and go over with it, the wax protects the glass and tiles and stops them dirtying up so often.
I have a rack for shampoo, but it's only small so everything else (yes I have tons of products)is kept in a wicker basket in easy reach.

breaghsmum · 16/11/2008 22:55

if you go over your shower door and tiles with car wax once and then after every shower ( while your stil in it) give the walls and door a quick rinse with the hose and then spray the shower shine it really does work. i swear by shower shine. the wax stops gels and conditioner sticking to walls and door and shower shine stops the water marks. as for the bottles and pots, get one of the corner things that goes up from the bath corner to the ceiling. ( i 4get what theyre called) and do rinse bath out after anyones bathed.

  1. I have one of These are great
  1. Using glass cleaner on it every morning after everyone has showered.
  1. CIF mousse and value toilet brush and replace atleast once a month. Also an old toothbrush does all the jobs that are otherwise difficult.

Under toilet rim round taps etc they are always handy.
