I just sweep mine every day or so, I never mop, about once a week or when it gets grubby looking I wipe the footprints with a microfibre cloth, I think I have only done the whole floor once.

Laminate is dreadful to keep clean, isn't it? In fact I don't ever feel I have done a good enough job.

You aren't supposed to mop it though- it will damage it as the layers will start separating.

I brush and wipe with a cloth like thesockmonster.

I do like thesockmonsterofdoom. I hoover quite alot but thats mainly because I like it.

I don't like cleaning floors so I do that as little as possible. When I do its with a damp microfibre cloth.

Thye ar a bugger-hoover and then use floor wipes (on hands and knees-not those stupid long-handled things) no easy way round it....

carpet over it.

LavenderTea · 12/11/2008 20:18

I used to have laminate and then got carpet... Much better imo

I sweep mines every other day, and i have one of those spongy mop things - not really a mop, more like a big sponge on a stick. I clean it properly on a Thursday (groans - tomorrow!) Seems okay to me, we have carpets in the bedrooms and i only hoover them on Thursdays too (don't tell my mum).

I have laminate and sweep daily and after meals and use a vileda wood mop. Its fine. I use any laminate cleaner, but just a little, really hot water and start and one end and finish at the other.

I try and do it on an evening and just sit until it drys.

Infact that is why I am on here as we had a spillage of drink and I mopped. Thought I might as well do the whole lot.

I tend to do it once or twice a week and then just stop clean under the table.

I love my laminate. I have two little ones, so have loads of accidents.

I would have it upstairs if I could afford it, but this was more expensive than carpet or real wood . I think that may be why I dont get footprints

blossomsmine · 12/11/2008 22:09

You know when you use your vileda wood mop...how do you get it wet with the laminate cleaner and hot water? Obviously you can't dip the mop as you would with a normal mop cos it is long and won't fit in a bucket!!! I used to buy the spray floor cleaner and spray then mop but i have bought a proper laminate floor cleaner now and want to use that with my vileda mop?????? Or the emop that i am going to buy as soon as i can get to Homebase!!

TheMadHouse · 13/11/2008 07:19

Vileda woon mop is just a special sponge head for noral squeezy mop, so fits in a bucket fine. You could alsways udilute floor spreay and floor cleaner in a spray bottle and use that.

blossomsmine · 13/11/2008 22:59

Oh[ right! So you can buy the head seperately then! That solves my problem, thanks

I have to sweep the hall everyday otherwise the stair carpet gets absolutely stinking and the sun shines through into the hallway so every mark shows easily. After sweeping I use a Vileda mop/spray thingy which has washable pads, in the container I put diluted Dettol which is brilliant at taking footprints/pawprints away. It dries quickly and smells clean.

The rest of the rooms I do every other day (the middles) and move furniture once a week to do under there.
