Morning ALL

OP posts:
TheMadHouse · 12/11/2008 15:59

Oh LavenderTea Thank you so much that brought a tear to my eye.

The ladies on the thread know how I feel, as I have told them before. They keep me sane and my house in some semblance of order. Doing a little at a time, makes more time for my wonderful boys

Anyway mum dropped off
TD in again!!!

I am trying to think of what to do for dinner - I do normally menu plan, but for some reason I have fogot/lost sheet of paper

grouchyoscar · 12/11/2008 15:59

Hello and Welcome to bella

Wrote a nice post earlier but the laptop shut down and it got lost But I've done the morning routines, been to the dentist, Made lunchpacks for tomorrow, made Rocky Road Crunch and done 90 mins Reading Friends stint. Ed is home and DH is working late so

if it is to be it is up to me

Looks like I'll be doing tea etc today.

I have a free day tomorrow. May spend it in bed

TTFN

Fantastic stuff, people. I now only have the fire left on my original list but, as it was a bit of a flimsy list to start with, I am going to do extra things. [extremely pleased with oneself emoticon]

Is the secret just to make yourself do a little bit more here and little bit more there? It certainly feels better than that horrible so-overwhelmed-and-don't know-where-to-start feeling!

TheMadHouse · 12/11/2008 16:05

Bella The secret is the baby steps - link right at the beginning. Start at day one and build up. It gives you a routine and then zones, so you know where you are.

FLY is alll about doing things in 15 min chunks - it really works. Get yourself timer and have a read of the website - if you can see past the americaness of it - its is a great base

bella29 · 12/11/2008 16:08

Thanks, madhouse, will do. And thanks to all who've made me so welcome here. You are such nice people - with such clean, tidy homes too

Jas · 12/11/2008 16:23

Not read thread, but LOL @ us with nice clean/tidy homes

If that was true we wouldn't need FLY.

My roof is leaking and I've spent the afternoon up in the loft with dp clearing out wet insulation and 100 yr old lathe and plaster, plus the remains of an old chimney which was so heavy due to damp it was threatening to bust our new ceilings.

Now have lungs full of soot and dust.

I hoovered the whole house this morning, too

babyjjbaby · 12/11/2008 16:30

TheMadHouse · 12/11/2008 16:35

BabyJ -Our list are specific to each of us - you need to go back and do the babysteps to get a routine which is good for you. On the web site are also zone lists which will be of help too

I post my zone clean list at the beginning of each week

babyjjbaby · 12/11/2008 16:48

thanks i don't find it worth doing babysteps for me as i am not always at the house and when i am not here it doesn't get cleaned at all so i just need a cleaning routine for when i am here but then again i am not fussy so thimngs like the tiles and cleaning the cubords out rarly get doen or like anything like that i just need to strat doing it everyday

AnneOfAvonlea · 12/11/2008 17:00

babyjjbaby - unless you create your own routine it is unlikely to work for you in the long run. imo.

hello everyone. my house is not bad. RL taking over atm. Back in earnest soon.

babyjjbaby · 12/11/2008 17:02

i don't mind doing a routine but don't want to do babysteps i like to be thrown in at the deep end and just keep it up

Jas · 12/11/2008 17:08

Babyjj
This is my daily and weekly lists:
Morning
1 Make bed

If I do it all and stick to the zones, the extra jobs like cleaning tiles and cupboards get done as missions, zone cleaning (Tuesdays for me) or declutter/hotspotting.

I also do the 15 min bursts of crisis cleaning if I have a free day/lots of motivation.

Jas · 12/11/2008 17:09

That lot was worked out by babystepping, but inorder to stick to it, working out your own routine is still best. ( I did have Bianca and someone elses lists towork from when I did mine though)

babyjjbaby · 12/11/2008 17:11

thanks i may have athink tonight and right one down its just i find it hard to keep motivated to do it i am not overly bothered bout doign the things like tiles or behing furniture or stuff what sort of extra stuff do u do on mission

AnneOfAvonlea · 12/11/2008 17:12

I think that unless you do it gradually and by yourself then it is hard to keep the motivation. Why dont you try 2 babysteps a day? Then you'll be through it in 2 weeks and you'll be on top of all the principles of flylady.

Jas · 12/11/2008 17:14

Just write down 5 or 6 things you want to get done every day, and stick it on the wall in the kitchen to start with, then do more if you can, or add to the list later.

Motivation comes from posting on here

babyjjbaby · 12/11/2008 17:17

that strue actually i probably wouldn't of done the upstairs if i ahdn't of posted on here ann there is no point me doing baby steps as some times i am only at the house monday to thursday so just need summit which i can clean the hous straigh away

LavenderTea · 12/11/2008 18:15

Can I ask as a beginner who keeps going off the rails.

When do you all write your lists?? I was writing them the night before, but then changed to the morning so I could plan better after seeing the mission, but then I get sidetracked on the pc, and before you know it it is time to get l/o's up... and I haven't got any further than making the beds and getting dressed. Then end up in a rush to get breakfast and bottles ready and always end up playing catch up all day and on to next day.

TheMadHouse · 12/11/2008 18:30

LavenderTea I think that again you need to do the babysteps - perhaps we can all do then together again and do 2 steps a day like Anne Sugested.

I will do a fresh thread with Babysteps 1 and 2 on and we can all then prepare for the morning.

TheMadHouse · 12/11/2008 18:33

babystepping thread

babyjjbaby · 12/11/2008 18:47

i think i am going to just strat writing a lsit the night before agin and do the upstairs every other day

AnneOfAvonlea · 12/11/2008 19:03

Mad - I'll join you on babystepping again.

Lavender. By going through babysteps you find a routine that evolves as you go along and so suits you and fits in with your lifestyle, eg, wohm, sahm etc.

LavenderTea · 12/11/2008 19:56

Mad and AnnOAvonlea, thankyou thankyou. I can now see lights at the end of all my tunnels..

I think starting with the baby steps again is a good idea though my sink is ALWAYS shiny ( bathroom too) and I do ALWAYS manage to get dressed ( not shoes), make the beds, sort out children and write my list most days, .

CAn I ask why is there no actual chores in baby steps like hoovering?
I can't bare not to hoover at least every other day. I was getting confused how to fit the things you want to do as opposed to missions to do in
???
I must admit I did jump a few which I didn't think were important... and I don't have a journal..but I thought I would buy the note books and organisers form Organised Mum. Link posted by Mad. I saw them at a recent NCT group and thought they were fabby. what do you think Mad??

Ooooh one more thing should I write a list tonight then as I did before? Seems to be better for me . Crikey....Don't know about baby steps though. I've got heaps to do tommorow. Mum is coming to stay with us for a few days weeks lol . (Makes things easier to have her here than keep going to hers. ) That means I will have to clean every cupboard and door knob otherwise she will be out with her white gloves LOL

LavenderTea · 12/11/2008 19:58

Oh I'm a SAHM by the way.

TheMadHouse · 12/11/2008 20:30

OK - calm down Lavender.

Monday is home blessing day - so basic hovering throughout the house takes place then - can really be anyday you like.

Also by babystepping you create a routine so you could add hoover every other day to it.

Also Zone cleans tend to have a detailed (lift up and under) hoover

This is why babysteps are imortant.

I only actually hoover upstairs once a week. we have hard floor downstairs so sweep everyday and after all meals (1 preschooler, 1 toddler)

COntrol journal. I did one on spreadsheet, which is fine for me, but I am having a major op next year, so will be using my lists book to put down one on paper - for my helpers
