My dd's are 5 and 7 and I have recently started working again. I cannot fit in housework etc, what do your kids do by way of housework etc.

Ds1 (7) and dd (5) make their beds and tidy rooms, not a brilliant standard but passable. Tidy playroom too. Lay table and get breakfast things out, put stuff either in sink or dishwasher at end of meal.

Dd can do a basic sweep of kitchen floor. Ds1 put recycling in bags and is just about to start sweeping front steps.

They also pick up leaves in garden for me (but for extra pocket money, that one).

Ds2 is 3 so doesn't really do much, but helps the others a bit and will bring his laundry basket to washing machine and help me get things out of the dryer.

My mum once offered to pay the boys for picking up leaves from her garden - she offered 50p for each carrier-bagful. Ds1 was back in record time with a bag stuffed with leaves so my mum told him where to find the compost pile where she wanted the leaves put - "Oh but that's where I got them all from" says ds1!!
