I really fancy one for dd's bed-covered in jewels, ribbons, girly things, but she has perfectly nice bedding-shall I disregard shopping whim or are they any good with keeping in warmth (no heating obsession kicking in) TIA xx

step away from the PC now! Tis fatal - late night shopping. Cease, desist, stop!

But it has jewels on, and I want to fecklessly spend money I do not have! I should go to bed shouldn't I? xx Also want a stamper that makes snowflake confetti and 12 star cookie cutters to make a biscuit tree

Why don't you make one. Seriously. You could buy a plain purple/pink/white quilt cover in good 100% cotton and put patches on it in denim/gingham (oooo my name ) and sew pretty ribbons, jewelled ribbon, put jewels in netting, that type of thing.

I am making a quilt for my DD which will have scraps of her nice summer dresses (if I don't sell the Boden ones, not sure if it would be financially rewarding to cut them up even though they are 2nd hand). I plan to complete this over the years and if I can't do it will get someone who knows about these things to put the padding in and make it into a quilt. If my mate who sews is watching this. Sorry, I will advise you about this soon.x

Oh yeah-can we start a "we don't know what we are doing but want to make our dc's quilts" thread? Am making our stockings this year and they need padding, so may be a good starting point xx

Excellent, I shall join you tomorrow at a more reasonable time to discuss the fact that I haven't a clue

Pawslikepaddington · 06/11/2008 01:23

We WILL do it though-and can give them to our dc's as a leaving home present by the time we finish them!!

Oh God you know that's true don't you. I still have the start of a patchwork quilt I began 10 years ago - Yikes. DS asked me what it was the other day and I just mumbled something and left it.LOLOL

Actually if I can pursuede myself to cut up the Boden, then I could potentially have a brilliant quilt for her. Now what would you use for a boy. I am thinking old trousers, no shirts here as they have to be ironed, so it would just be trousers & jeans.

Are we allowed to show off in here? Dcs all have quilts on their beds that I made for them - dd's has a few ribbons and old lace doilies on it as well as some lovely old skirts I made patches from.

They weren't that hard ( [hmmm] ) and the dcs all love the fact I made them.

Just in case showing off is allowed, I've put pics in my profile.
