AIBU - Am I being Unhygenic?

...to wash flannels that I use to go over my baby's bottom in with the general household washing?

I always wipe DS's botty with wipes, then go over it with a flannel and water, to remove nasty chemicals, when I change his nappy. I change the flannel every day. DP thinks that we should wash the flannels at 60c, but I think he is being a bit anal ('scuse the pun).

The way I see it, the poo is removed by the wipes, so the flannel is no more dirty than your standard skid-marked undies.

Who's right?

i agree with you....

McDreamy · 13/10/2008 19:43

I would wash wish with the rest of the laundry.

Cappuccino · 13/10/2008 19:43

I wash just about everything at 30c.

nickytwoooohtimes · 13/10/2008 19:45

You are right.

crokky · 13/10/2008 19:46

I have quite high hygeine standards, but I would be happy doing this.

yama · 13/10/2008 19:50

I did what you do but rather to dry bottom than to remove chemicals. It would never have occurred to me that flannel should then go into a separate wash. No, you are right.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 13/10/2008 19:52

I'd do it, Dh wouldn't but he can't even wash his undies with any other washing.

childrenofthecornsilk · 13/10/2008 19:54

does he think baby poo is toxic?

SharpMolarBear · 13/10/2008 19:54

I would wash with normal washing with the exception of D&V bug where everything apart from delicates is washed at 60 anyway

hotbot · 13/10/2008 19:59

why not just wash bot with flannel anyway and then wash with tea tree oil separately?

FourArms · 14/10/2008 07:23

I'd be happy with that.

seeker · 14/10/2008 07:43

Why is this flannel any different from pants? Presumably you put pants in with the other washing?

Furball · 14/10/2008 07:54

I'd also be happy with that. Nappisan in the wash claims to get rid of bugs.

Flamesparrow · 14/10/2008 07:57

Plenty of people wash cloth nappies in with the main wash. You're fine

ScaryHalloweenSquonkRAAR · 14/10/2008 07:58

I'd rather do that than leave them lying around for weeks while you try to get a full wash together.

Or didn't wash them at all!

SuperBunny · 14/10/2008 08:02

He can put them in the 60' wash when he washes his skiddies.

Thanks all. As it happens our LO has D&V at the mo, so will wash at 60 or use cotton wool (sorry eco-warriors) until next week, then back to business as usual.
