Morning Ladies

Mine all slept in until about 8.30, so I'm happy here too!

Its pouring down with rain again today. I'm needing a food shop but I'll have to see what the pennies are like.

Otherwise its a lazy day and getting ready for school. The kids had all of last week off, so they need to do homework and I need to sort lunch boxes out etc.
They are both ok now, DD1 has slightly sticky eyes in the mornings still but I think she will be fine.

Morning

Sorry you've had another bad night TMH

Tort hope dd is feeling better this morning x

Jas glad your mum was able to help out x

Very wet and windy today We are all still in pjs

I worked most of the day yesterday and have some office bits and pieces to do at some point today.
Dh wants to go to Ikea today but I really don't fancy it on a wet Sunday so hopefully I'll talk him into a lazy day at home instead
Dh started a big clear-up of his paperwork in the spare room/office yesterday so we could do with getting on a bit morein there if the kids are willing to entertain themselves
Dd is blowing into playing her recorder in her bedroom atm and ds is singing along to this on you tube. He seems to have taken a shine to all the girls

Everyone is demanding pancakes for breakfast so I'd better get up and get cooking back later x

BiancaCastafiore · 05/10/2008 09:36

Luda glad your dcs are looking set to get back to school this week x

TheMadHouse · 05/10/2008 10:20

Giraffe I tend to check what plans we have ie toddler stuff and also hpspital appoinments and the like (me and mum next week), make sure I have child care cover if requried. Then I plan what needs doing for the week. I need to get out and take out the summer bedding and pop in some winter pansies and the like!!!

Jas · 05/10/2008 10:24

I'll join in with a short list....

To do:
Menu plan
Shop
Mop kitchen
Washing
Fish tank
Clean fridge

Dp is trying to play scrabble with dd1, in the sitting room with ds. And telling him off every time he trieds to "help"
There is a table in here but he won't move. Grr

ludaloo · 05/10/2008 10:27

You are very organised TMH

I try to do that but still end up forgetting stuff.

Anyone doing a Christmas Cake this year? I made one last year, but it didn't really get eaten, but I have thought about making my dad one this year.
I might just make a chocolate one Christmas Eve instead.

Anyone doing anything for Halloween?
I love Halloween [big kid emote]

OP posts:
TheMadHouse · 05/10/2008 10:30

Luda It is the control freak in me It keeps me from worrying too much

I am also doing a cake and some for outlaws too

My two get scared on Halloween - too little me thinks

lucysmam · 05/10/2008 11:53

luda not doing halloween here! I hate it when the kids up the street knock on the door & look at you gone out when you give them choc & I refuse to give out money so just sit and ignore the door unless I know a friend or MIL is coming round. Oh thinks it's mean but I don't

We are however having a bonfire night party with family & some mates here which I (very brightly) offered to organise food/drinks/bonfire toffee/decorations for! On my own

RE the xmas cake, I'm making for everyone this year. Me and oh tend to munch it in front of the tv on an evening so it never gets wasted. How about a chocolate log? Decorated with sparkly edible glitter & some other xmassy bits if none of you like xmas cakes?

I'm bored. The lo is pottering round not really playing much or doing a lot & I have washed pot mountain, put her bedding in wm again, washed towels, braising steak in & lasagne meat cooking for tomorrow. Going to go and clean the bathroom I think in a mo while she's occupied with a story on CBeebies & then start putting the house back in some sort of order!

Have been through the freezer as well whilst in the kitchen. Our free asda delivery will very easily feed us for another 3 weeks so I'm well chuffed we'll only have to buy bits and pieces as we need them to top up.

Going to start an xmas list as well for pressies and the like.

What do you get for a 22 year old & his 18yo pg gf who both seem to think that, even though they've moved in together, everyone else is responsible for their happiness/well being!? MIL is still doing their washing and shopping & they had the cheek to ask me to buy them a joint of beef for Sunday dinner yesterday. Needless to say I was & not impressed. I rarely buy beef for us never mind for someone else. Very unsure what to get them as they'll be totally ungrateful whatever it is & I can't be arsed with them whineing tbh

Right, moan & groan over. I am off to clean the bathroom & put pots away.

Lucys Free asda delivery...did you win it?
I'd be very too if I was asked to buy a joint for someone else...cheeky buggers!

It is sunny here now....but chilly. Dh has taken the kids down to the river to see if it has flooded.

I'm sorting out the kitchen cupboards....OMG! What a mare!!!!!!! I have three (yes three) junk drawers! Currently the contents of 2 of them are all over the living room!
It is definately one of those jobs that gets a lot worse before it gets better

OP posts:
TheMadHouse · 05/10/2008 13:04

It is a glorious winter day here. We are pottering in the garden

I have repotted 3 hanging baskets
Added some winter colour to my planters
DH has tied back the rose

We are going to sort though the outside toys next and store in the playhouse. I have come in to get some feeling back in my fingers and have a cuppa

Lucys Get them a voucher for the cinema. DH's aunt always did this for us and we loved it.

Luda I binned my junk drawer last kitchen week!!!

Ruby Has she been tested? She might just be lazy

cafebistro · 05/10/2008 13:21

Lucys- if they like beef so much get them some for xmas and they can have it for their xmas dinner! Then they wont be round yours on xmas day bugging you and eating your turkey!

Afternoon ladies

Got up with Ed (my turn) and got on with tiding the kitchen. After brekkie I went to Tesco to get the bits DH had missed in the Friday shop. Did a bit of Xmas shopping for Ed too in the 1/2 price toy sale.

To Do

Complete 4 job apps
Ironing
Get Ed's uniform ready for tomorrow
Sort out bags
Make lunches

TheMadHouse · 05/10/2008 14:44

Ruby I was like that and still am to some extent. I read really well and read high for my age, but spelling well - you just might as well not go there. I am still a lazy tart.

Jas · 05/10/2008 15:11

lucysmam - Christmas cake....am I imagining you had the individual size cake making idea? Do you have a recipe I could pinch if you are, as I'd like to do some this year, but we never eat a proper sized one. DD1 doesn't any kind of cake

Ruby some people are just not natural spellers. DD2 is terrible too, and not as quick to pick p reading as dd1 either. Mostly laziness on her part imo.

grouchyoscar · 05/10/2008 16:39

Ruby yesterday Ed wanted to spell what he was doing. 'Mafs' bless him, he'd done some adding up.

TheMadHouse · 05/10/2008 18:20

Evening all

Jas I have a receipe if you want it.

We have had a lovley afternoon

Garden is all tidy
We have popped all the childrens outdoor toys away after a good clean
Cleaned the spare pots
Picked up some more milk (boys have been though 12 pints of FF since wedensday)
All had dinner - Fajitas
All had showers

Am now off to watch strickly that I taped last night with the boys

Later

ludaloo · 05/10/2008 18:20

Spelling is a non starter in our house. My kids are taught in Welsh...and only Welsh at school!

DD1 gets very fustrated as she is dying to learn English. She tries really hard to write in English but it is a jumble of welsh and english most of the time.

For example: She write "love" as "lyf" (the welsh for v is f and the welsh for u is y)

She wrote "sweeties" today but spelled it "switis" (the welsh for e is i)

She writes "mam ai lyf uwe" for mum I love you"

Bless!

OP posts:
ludaloo · 05/10/2008 18:25

(she can spell perfectly in welsh though....her teacher is very pleased with her spelling and grammar)

Welsh is a lot easier than English. It is very phonetic so you tend to spell things how you would say them. Once you have learned the basic welsh alphabet, then spelling is fairly easy.
