Awww Tigger I think the photo thing is a good idea.
We had 4 cats before we moved here. Our landlord wouldn't let us bring them. After much emotional blackmail we persuaded him to let us have 1.
Trying to choose was awful DD1 chose in the end.
We re-homed the others (I was very lucky though, they all went together and to a lovely home....not too far away so I had the reassurance that I could go and see them)but I do miss them. My favourite was "Poppet"...a little white and tabby cat, who used to sing when she was hungry...funny little thing! She used to make a BBBuuuuuuuurrrruuuuuuuppp noise. LOL there is no way I can type that to sound anything like the noise she made! LOL

Its mad how you get attached isn't it.

We now have "Digger" she is the first cat DH and I got, just after we moved into our first home, so she is getting on a bit now.

My DD1 is cat mad....if we could have more then we definately would. DH and I both love cats and the kids do too. We have half adopted next doors kitten. We sneak her in and play with her, then send her home before anyone notices

If we had our own house (I'd love somewhere off the beaten track) then I expect we'd have quite a few!
Maybe one day....

ludaloo · 01/10/2008 15:24

Of course not GO I think you were very kind and welcoming and you couldn't be "too me" because you are lovely

I expect she is hotspotting

ludaloo · 01/10/2008 16:00

Ta Da! Kids bedroom all tidy.....only took me 3 hours!

They are all currently up there....being very noisey
No doubt un-doing the last 3 hours!!

Just the rest of the house to go then. I'd better finish off upstairs before I start down here.

scattyspice · 01/10/2008 16:12

Hey you lot are doing well .

tigger. I would love a cat but DH allergic.

Done:
reboot laundry.

To do:
shops (after tea).

grouchyoscar · 01/10/2008 16:20

Scatty you could try a Sphinx cat. They are bald so no fur to cause allergies. HTH

I've got Four more job apps to complete before next friday

Ed has a pal round so it's homework for him at 5 today

tigger32 · 01/10/2008 16:25

Thank you all for the kind messages, I love this thread
Don't think we are ready for another yet, but maybe one day.....

tigger32 · 01/10/2008 16:26

thats another cat

TheMadHouse · 01/10/2008 16:41

Groucy If you were going to scare anyone off I think it would have been me We have so many coincidences. I sometimes think we are each other in alternative time zones

I have spoke to my mum
Had a talk to DS1 - he got into trouble at Preschool for Hogging the PC and pushing a boy out of the way. He wants to do it each time as he know the answer before the other children.

EustaciaVye · 01/10/2008 16:49

tigger - it will take some time. When my last cat died I was very emotional about it for quite a while. I said I would never have another cat. Less than 3 months later we got a kitten

lucysmam · 01/10/2008 18:10

Evening everyone.

Hope you've all had a good day

Tigger I can't believe you managed to clear the cat's cupboard already Hope you're not feeling too bad now though, you have to give yourself time to get over these things.

Mad I'm not having J any more, wouldn't be too bad if it was one of the millions of toys we got for our lo from the car boot last year but was an expensive one which was a gift. Trouble is, I honestly don't think he has any clue (not even vaguely) about the difference between what's acceptable in another person's home & what isn't

luda check the back of your local papers to see if someone in there buys old washers for spares/repairs. We sold an old knackered one which was left in our old flat to a bloke out of our local paper to use for spare parts. Only got £20 for it but it'd be something back at least . Also, liking the sound of your new wm!

I can't remember anything from the first page so sorry to anyone I have missed

We have had a very grrrrrr day here. Our lo has a bit of a cold which is slowly getting worse . She's hardly ever ill so is struggling a bit & has made herself sick a couple of times coughing. I'm knackered after running round after everyone trying to sort them out. . . . MIL thinks her partner is about to leave her, BIL hasn't been paid, oh still not paid (now being paid 2 weeks on Friday we hope) & I'm ready to sit on my ass all night doing a whole lot of nothing.

I do have some good news though, don't know why, but Asda seem to have refunded the money we spent on our shopping delivery at the weekend. So we got free food and beer, which is very nice

I am off for a shower and then oh wants an hour in the bedroom . . . would rather crack on with decluttering if I'm honest but never mind. He's cooking for me again as well . . . .steak tonight yummy!

BBL if I'm bored xx

lucysmam · 01/10/2008 18:11

wow! that was super long

Jas · 01/10/2008 19:31

Sorry guys, but I need a small rant.

I've just checked my bank balance to see how much I can spend on a food shop tomorrow, expecting approx £40, only to find £30 of it has been taken out in a standing order which I cancelled. I've ranted at the bank and it will take two working days to get the money back, so after living out of the freezer in anticipation of being able to do this shop, I will now have to borrow the money tomorrow

Back later when I am feeling a bit calmer....

OP posts:
tigger32 · 01/10/2008 19:45

oh jas thats terrible, surely the bank should give you a temp overdraft to cover the money until it returns?

lucys I felt I had to clear out tigger's cupboard as it was on my mind that it was sat there with nobody to need it! IYSWIM, I hoped it would help me sort myself out! A couple of friends have said " It was only a cat" which has made me feel asthough I shouldn't be sad.
Anyway have decided that he wasn't just a cat he was a much loved part of our family and we are quite right to be sad about his death. So grr to those friends people

tigger32 · 01/10/2008 19:47

sorry about that, am feeling much better for it though

TheMadHouse · 01/10/2008 20:16

Jas That is super shite. I truely understand the feeling though and had to use some of the boys money at last week. I hope you manage OK.

Tigger I still ger upset over losing snowey - They are part of the family.

Lucys Lucky about the shopping

Tesco Shop has arrived
I have cleaned two buggies to put on e-bay
Photographed some other baby bits to put on.
Boys are bathed and in bed
Car screen wash topped up

I am going to crack on with the ebay listing

Later ladies

Jas · 01/10/2008 20:35

OK. I will just have to use the cc...I'm doing erverything I can to avoid it, as I had paid it all off, and really don't want to use it now. I know how these things escalate, but it is that or use dd2s birthday money.

tigger - Well done for sorting out the cat stuff. I still have my old cats food bowls (he died3 1/2 years ago). DD2 still talks about him
I would guess your "friends" who made those comments don't have pets....
Of course you should be sad

I'd love another cat, but my dp is also allergic. I had Custard before we met, and he did acclimatise a bit over time, but I couldn't get another one now.

lucys good luck with your shopping. Have you told js parents yet? I definitely think you're doing the right thing, they were taking the p*ss, really.

Luda - Glad you are getting a new w/m at last

OP posts:
lucysmam · 01/10/2008 20:48

Jas grrrrrr @ money coming out you weren't expecting! Never happened to me but can imagine it would be bloody awful

Tigger he may have been 'just' a cat but all the same, they are like a part of the family, I still miss mine n she was killed by some nutter driving a fast car years n years ago

Mad how are you getting on with ebay? Making any money? I tend to struggle to get more than my starting price for stuff (even new baby stuff)

Jas have just read further down, love Custard as a name for a cat! Made me

I told J's mum this afternoon I wasn't having him any more. Don't think she paid much attention though, was too busy giggling at the bloke who she car shares with. If she turns up tomorrow she's just going to have to go right back home with him anyways, I have a day of tlc planned for my little monkey since she's still coughing n snuffling away

Am a bit bored now tbh, not managed to sit on my bum for more than 10 mins as I was hoping to so probably just carry on pottering around the many millions of virtual shops I can't afford to shop at in RL

tigger32 · 01/10/2008 21:23

ok so ds2 is still awake and is now back downstairs playing cars he is always asleep by 7pm what is going on??

lucys good for you re J

giddykipper · 01/10/2008 21:56

Can I come back into the fold ladies?

I need to get FLYing again, it's the only way I can get my house in order and unless my house is in order my head is out of order.

It's clean enough because I do at least now have a cleaner, but the clutter is way out of control. Now that I'm back at work I just don't seem to have any time (don't point out how long I spend on MN, pleeeeaaase!) so I need to start attacking it in bitesized chunks.

tortoise · 01/10/2008 22:02

Evening all.
Been quite a good day. And not too much mess for a change! Had a friend and her DD2 to play after their half day at school.

Haven't read thread so hope everyone is ok.

giddykipper Hello. You are welcome to come back. I don't recognise your name though. I have loads of clutter too!

giddykipper · 01/10/2008 22:22

tortoise · 01/10/2008 22:33
