sorry to be completely thick but i have never encountered a stain in a cup that cannot be removed with a scubber and washing up liquid

my nan occasionally washes her cups with a small amount of bleach and rinses thourally, for what reason i have no idea

One of those squigly metal scourer things.

vio · 30/09/2008 15:13

vinegar or lemon juice.

But I too have never had such a stain.

Did the cup come from under your teenage sons bed perchance?

nooname · 30/09/2008 15:15

Not sure if eco-friendly but false teeth sterilising tablets do the trick.

Could try scrubbing with salt or bicarb.

vio · 30/09/2008 15:15

those squigly metal scourer things? would it damage the surface? err. suppose i can give it a try

Strong soloution of Soda Crystals.
Cheap as chips.
Also great for tea stains on spoons.

Jodee · 30/09/2008 23:16

ditto soda crystals for cups/spoons.

Flibbertyjibbet · 30/09/2008 23:25

I'm with custardo on this one. But then I don't have a dishwasher, just washing up liquid and a scrubber thingy.

Bleach and soda crystals in my cups, bleurghghgghghg I would never drink from them again.

Just get your rubber gloves on and wash them properly with something scrubby and a bit of fairy.

AbbeyA · 30/09/2008 23:28

Bicarbonate of Soda does the trick.

iLoveIceCream · 30/09/2008 23:28

laundry washing powder.

I work in a tea room with white crockery and works a treat if u soak them in it

Make sure they're washed properly after though so they don't taste horrid

WendyWeber · 30/09/2008 23:29

dishwasher does the job here
