Help around my bath is really mouldy and disgusting!!

We have recently moved and the bathroom has seen better days, especially the bath. Around the seal and the tile grout it is mouldy and discoloured and I am not sure where to start in cleaning it. I would be very grateful for advice and tips please

I did a bleach scrub yesterday, which has made it marginally better.
need to strip back the stuff and put fresh on i think.

watching as well, the seal around our shower tray is mouldy and nothing seems to be lifting it!!

i'd strip it off - do it again then protect it with a tile sealant to stop it from moulding again.

once the plastic stuff has gone mouldy i don't think it will ever get white again.

You need hydrogen peroxide. Leave for about 30 mins then rinse and scrub. You can buy this as mould spray from the supermarket or DIY shop. Dettol do one that works well.

Unfortunately though, mould is difficult to get out of silicone sealant so I would re-do that.

Grout should come clean with repeated applications - if not you can buy re-whitener once you've de-moulded...

Thank you for your advice. I was wondering about stripping off all the nasty gunky stuff from around the base then giving it all a good clean then putting new stuff on. Is it easy to do?

I just cleaned our manky bath tiles and shower curtain with Milton sterilsing fluid and I can tell you, it blardy works a treat! I had used Asonish household cleaner which kinda worked. The smell of Milton is a bit sickening, but never mind!

I have just been and got some silicon sealant remover and fresh sealant from Homebase. Interestingly I got talking to a guy there who is a plumber / tiler who told me the best thing to do for tile grout is to sand the grubby bit off and then put a new thin layer of grout over. Apparently that is the only sure fire way to stop the grout from discolouring again. Not sure if that would be a bit too complicated for my diy skills so thought I'd think on that one whilst I do the sealant!
