Can my sofas be rescued?

I bought two very lovely sofas pre DS in a very child unfriendly colour and fabric.

Water appears to stain the material, and two years of baby and toddler have resulted in two very manky looking sofas.

Any thoughts or should I start saving for new ones?

I feel your pain. I did the exact same thing except I already had a child so should have known better.

I spoke to the place I bought my sofa, who recommended a local cleaning specialist. The cleaning people said, over the phone, that for water-based stains they would typically clean in situ and they quoted me £95 to come and do it. They didn't guarantee how well it would work, said it would depend on how old the stains were and what they were. Mine are mostly snot I think.

Anyway I haven't done it yet because we moved abroad and I didn't get round to organising it in time, and now the sofa is on a ship on its way to us. But I would suggest contacting the retailer as a first step.

Could you get them covered? There was a thread on here a while ago about loose sofa covers I think. Not sure how much it costs though. Suspect more than the cleaning cost. Or perhaps a well secured throw?
