afternoon all!

ruby love the idea of a christmas countdown, have one on my phone...115 days! woo! love christmas especially with little ones...have already done the majority of shopping for the family, just bits for Ds to get, but we are focusing on his birthday first!

laura keep going with the babysteps it pays of in the end, ive only been fluttering for 3 months now and it makes such a difference!

i am now completely motivated to get my house clean as i have waited far to long for my results and just found out i did really well so only have a week before i go into my final year so need to get organised for next week!

am now off to do the kitchen! again! woo!

Good afternoon everyone

Had a lovely long walk with DD and DS...the weather is nice though it's supposed to rain later .

Ruby- Im up for a christmas countdown! As usual I have done no shopping yet as we're skint. Though we have a lump sum coming in Oct so we've decided to buy all the presents etc. then.
This year I have put my foot down and told DP that its just going to be us and DS and DD. For the last 2 years we've had MIL and MIL's boyfriend to stay for 2 weeks over xmas. She takes over and I feel I cant relax in my own home IYKWIM. Last year I was heavily pregnant with DD and told DP I wanted a quiet time but he wouldnt stand up to his mum and she came anyway.....it caused untold problems. He has yet to broach the subject of xmas with her yet but she wont be coming even if i have to tell her myself!

I would like to think of some nice traditions to start this year...does anyone else have things they do every year at christmas time?

Done-

We've had lunch and cleared away
Washing on line

To do-

Home blessing
Possibly mission
Pull some beetroot, cook and pickle

Better look at mission now....

grouchyoscar · 08/09/2008 13:12

god the porch is 1/3rd done and looks totally fab already.

£ well spent me thinks

Had lunch
done nowt

tigger32 · 08/09/2008 13:22

Hello back again,

I'm so proud of ds1 just took him for his 4th afternoon at school and he told me he wanted to go in on his own today! (parents not allowed in after Wednesday)

Done a few more jobs

both ds's fed, ds1 to school
mum home
new toys almost all have homes now
mission done

to do
dinner
babystep (forgotten what it was)
finish house blessing
Pick up ds1
sort more washing

Will find santa express site details

tigger32 · 08/09/2008 13:37

lucys
the santa express we went on laast year was booked through
gcrailways.co.uk
the one I may do this year as a change is
nvr.org.uk (Thomas is at this one too!)

These are in Peterborough and Loughborough though, but you could google Santa express and see if there is a steam staion near you!

Jas · 08/09/2008 13:38

Well done mini tigger

You can count the porch GO. Plus I know you never do nothing.

cafe - I decided two years ago that we were going to have Christmas day as just our small family, and see the extended family before and after. It works well for us, and means alot less rushing and planning. We used to rotate between my parents and dps mum, but spent too much time driving.

I bought a new saving tin this weekend (£1.50 for a tin you can't get into until you open it with a tin opener). I'll save for christmas, and then only open it if we are still totally broke. I'm hoping to keep it going until next summer, for treats and days out. This year I had £178 when I opened it (just before summer hols to pay for car repairs).

All other money gets spent...I've just fed £6 of coppers into the self service till in Tescos to pay for my shopping

I've done the bathroom, and my morning routine, just deciding what to do next.

EustaciaVye · 08/09/2008 13:45

DD1 has just bounced all the way home from school (as much as her car seat would allow) It went well.

ludaloo · 08/09/2008 13:45

Hi

Just made a LDC with DD2....bit messy but we had a whale of a time

She is sat on a chair watching it cook ATM...has decided she doesn't want any but is watching it for DD1 and DS...awwwwww

EustaciaVye · 08/09/2008 13:47

Oh and I did this mission the other day [smug]

Oh....on the subject of cooking...

(Very long shot I know) I don't suppose anyone has a Kenwood Food Mixer....FP450....with the cake mixer bit going spare?
Came to get mine out and I have lost the whisk attachment for it
I've looked on the internet and they are £25 to replace
I might as well buy a whole new one for that!!!

ludaloo · 08/09/2008 13:53

EV awwww glad your Dd had a good time at school

grouchyoscar · 08/09/2008 13:58

Luda you got a parcel yet?

grouchyoscar · 08/09/2008 14:13

Luda have you tried Ebay? I got my replacements for a magimix there

ludaloo · 08/09/2008 14:17

No parcel yet GO

Tried Ebay too....no luck

BiancaCastafiore · 08/09/2008 14:33

Luda Spotted your order in my pile of work this morning and so your ginger jar is on it's way

Just about to leave work now to rush home in time for school pick-up. It's sunny so we may head to the park for a run about

TheMadHouse · 08/09/2008 15:34

Afternoon ladies.

Guess what. I fell asleep after dropping DS1 at Preschool and DH woke me up only in time to collect him at 2.34 - so no flying for me

EV I am so pleased that DD loved school - that must be a great relief

Well done too mini Tigger

I have dinner nearly all sorted and then I am going to sort the freezer, as I only have money for milk and break this week and possibly some veg - if I raid the 2p jar!

Ruby I have started the Christmas thing - I have put fruit in to soak for Christmas Cake and Puddings.

Afternoon all

DD had a lovely morning at school I took her in & found her peg. She then put a apinting apron on and said goodbye mummy and concentrated on painting. Very relieved, don't think I could have handled tears.
I was going to get loads done this morning, but my friend popped around for a cup of tea, Very nice but I didn't even get the washing out until after I picked DD up, and didn't do the thigh trainer whilst ds had a noap, will try better tomorrow
Dc's are playign with playdouhg and watching cbeebies, dp is having a nap - bad day at work. I therefore managed to get some of my kitchen list done.

ev glad your Dd had a good morning at school as well.
TMH glad you managed to have a nap, more important than flying.
lucy We're probably going to have christmas just us again, reduces my stress adn teh dc's actualy get to play with their new toys.
Ruby at thinking about christmas. I still have 5 birthdays and that's me, ds, dd, brother, dad. Have really got to work out a tight budget this year, or will be taking out another loan by the end of the year.
jas I love the kitchen too, always find it the easiest to get looking really good.
grouchy glad the porch is looking good.
Katie well done on the results.
grownup welcome back.
laura I've been flying for 11 months now and actualy looked round the other day and thought that teh flat looked ok.
Hi Bianca bistro skull luda tigger
Sorry if I've forgotten anyone
Have a good afternoon, had better go and sort out tea.
BBL

scattyspice · 08/09/2008 16:37

Hi again.

shanna, tigger and EV well done on happy day back at school.

Done:
house bless (DCs did dusting).

To do:
ironing
laundry.

at those who manage a relaxed family Xmas. We always have lots of relatives (all staying, all coming and going on different days) and lots of visiting. I find it a bit difficult as DCs get very excited and then very tierd (with usual consequencies). I have had bad colds every yr due to all the stress. But I find it impossible to say no to people at Xmas.

lucysmam · 08/09/2008 17:01

good afternoon all has everyone had a good day?

scatty extra child is the son of one of oh's footy team mates and his gf.

tigger thanks, I'll have a look at those sites once my bomb site ahem, house is tidy. & fab about your lo wanting to go into school alone!

grouchy that looks like a very good investment, we could do with something like that here . . .

luda LDC . . . yummy yummy! I'm making another one of those at some point this week

Shannar we found it's easier to put a time limit on when people can come, especially since having the lo, so we actually get to enjoy xmas ourselves instead of rushing around after others. After all, it's meant to be a day for chilling and relaxing

Mad your nap!

Bianca . . . ginger jar? tell me more please . . .

to anyone I've missed

I've not done much today, although having 2 kids in the house is not as tough as I expected (don't know what I expected tbh). Have managed to keep sink shiny & clear, strip remains of chicken n make stock, make lasagne for tomorrow, s&s bathroom, tidy upstairs and do lots of running around though!

Am just about to do tea for lo, and then bed. Shower for me then cooked brekky for tea because I fancied bacon n eggs! So figured we may as well go the whole hog

BiancaCastafiore · 08/09/2008 17:12

Ginger jar For Lucysmam

Glad dd enjoyed school EV, I just had a nose at her pics on facebook - very cute! She looks sooo excited!

We have been at the park since school finished so I had better get cracking with supper. I'm planning to blitz the kitchen while the kids eat

grouchyoscar · 08/09/2008 18:42

Hello everybody

I have had a fine day. The rotting green wooden porch has been replaced with gleaming white UPVC (couldn't afford hardwood) and just needs some cladding now.

On Wednesday I'll buy some shelving and baskets for storage. Then I will have a nice entrance to my home. The mini shed thing will come in about a fortnight

I'm sorry to harp on. I'm just really very chuffed
