Chocolate ice cream stains are impossible to remove - aren't they?

I've never had any success removing chocolate ice cream stains - tried all manner of pre-washing, soaking in stain removal solution etc to no avail. Ds has ruined another favourite top with chocolate ice cream - has anybody found an effective way of getting rid of the stains?

vanish powder soaked for hours worked for me...

No, you're right. They're pretty much impossible to get rid of (unless if you get to them immediately perhaps?). I can get all other stains out but not chocolate ice cream.

Thye should show that in all those silly ads for washing powder instead of beetroot which comes out with no effort at all ime.

DS2 had a gorgeous pale blue sweater once

I could have killed his gran for not having the sense to get him to take it off before giving him a chocolate icecream.

She could have at least tried to clean the sweater once he dropped the damn stuff down the front . It was totally dried in by the time I got my hands on it. Ruined

Chocolate mini milks have suddenly been withdrawn from the local shop ...never any in stock (honest).

I have solved the chocolate mini-milk stains problem . . . eat them all myself and give lo the strawberry/vanilla ones!! works a treat every time

We had to convert dd onto white chocolate ice cream this year once she'd ruined 2 dresses on holiday (the £2 Asda one which had been worn and worn I could happily write off, the boden one worn for the first time I was less pleased about).

My trick is to use stain devil for curry and sauce and then vanish dual power spray in tandem. Has been working a treat on chocolate ice cream.

Ummm, okay I am going to try the dual assault approach of stain devil for curry and sauce together with vanish. Will have to go to shop to get some though, since none in at home atm. Thanks - I'll let you know if the top is salvaged. It's only a cheapish H&M t-shirt, but it has the coolest most dramatic tarantula on the front and I love it

I've had no luck. Bought dd a fabulous more-expensive-than-usual shirt for summer wear, and she managed to dribble dark chocolate ice cream down the front the first time she wore it. The stain is still there in spite of all my efforts.

Vanish soap.

Washing much hotter than it says on the label with a lot of Ariel.

As soon as you notice the stain soak the item in cold water for 24 hours and then wash as normal.
You've got to do it pretty much straight away though so not aways possible.
