Hi everyone, have completed my list except for sweeping so came back for some more enthusiasm....

Sorry to Saga to hear about the nightmare, and hope you get fixed soon!

We were only painting so early because the boredom was too great! This way I can get get my dining table back before dinner!

Okay: to do -

sweep
put away dry dishes
sleep when DS does!

Good work everyone!

oh bother

Haven't even looked at the misson yet!

Skramble · 21/08/2008 11:15

Morning all, I thought I best return to FLY as I want to claim back my house after the holidays, kids back now so no excuses. Well apart from the fact I am away next weekend.

So..
Today is my kitchen and food planning day.
I have cleared off and cleaned the work tops,
re-instated my meal planner,
investigated the contents of the freezer and cupboards.
2 loads of washing done( both lying in wet heaps will have to hang up.

to do...
Hang up washing,
take recycling oout,
clear out fridge,
clear out the huge coolbox that has taken up residence in my kitchen and put it in the hut,
do the mission
and put away some clothes I have reclaimed from MIL's all in bags so I will have to iron argh!!!

Jas · 21/08/2008 11:16

I haven't looked at a mission for 6 weeks now Legoleia

I have tidied and hoovered the dining room in 15 mins, but forgot to reset the timer and spent the next 1/2 hour removing old td and cleaning 10 yrs worth of dust off the floor and walls.

I'm goin to do the next hour upstairs and come back again while ds and I eat lunch.

grouchyoscar · 21/08/2008 11:22

Hello Ladies

Done my morning stuff and the big To do items before the weekend are

Clean out the cat cellar
Do the huge ironing pile

and for today I must

Make cookies
Make a puppet with Ed (I'll tie string to his arms and legs)
Build his lego pirate ship
Tidy front room

Oh the Wilko Lego copy stuff...2.5 hrs later and it still wasn't done it has to be clipped together exactly and it is really stiff. Plus it is very fragile and as you build it up it falls to bits. Stick with the real Danish stuff TBH. Costs more but there's buckets on eBay and your sanity is worth it, honest!

Lucys was it you asking about cleaning vinegar? I was told to get distilled vinegar and I found some in the condiments section of Tesco. It's about 55p for 1/2l and it is so very worth it. Shifts those gribbly bits on the underside of the doorhandles that you don't like to think about no probs and Kelly Flylady recommended 'rubbing alcohol'
Well I wish you all a happy happy day x

littlemissloopy · 21/08/2008 11:23

Bianca they don't sound like they were being very professional! I think most parents know instinctively when something isn't right and they should bare that in mind!
Poor you and poor DS....at least he is ok now (and I would be writing a letter too if that was me)

Well I have tidied up downstairs and had a good vaccum.

DD1 is in my bad books....I think all this time off school has turned her brain to mush!

I tried to sit them both down to do homework but DD1 was just being so silly! She has simple sums to do, which I know she is more than capable of doing...
8 + = 10 (she has to fill in the blanks)

She is staring at them and just guessing stupid numbers... 8 + 7 = 10??
so then I sit and try to help her work it out on her fingers, we get the answer of 2 and then she writes 12 in the space! [sigh] This continued for the next 4 or 5 sums.....
I've put the homework away as it was just winding me up I know she is more than capable of doing them, she has done them hundreds of times in previous homework.

Now they are all watching Ben 10...

Health visitor is due any minute so I had better get off xx

Skramble · 21/08/2008 11:23

Right must add vinegar to the shopping list, tea break over.

littlemissloopy · 21/08/2008 12:12

Right health visitor has been and gone....all is good apart from her speech (she replaces the letter "c" with a "t") I'm not too worried about it really but the health visitor said if nothing else the speech therapist might just have some advice on practising the "c" sound (its pretty essential she can say that sound especially as we live in Wales, and a lot of welsh words are all "c" sounds, well actually its more of a flem rolling "c" but still...mouth still needs to make the same shape)

I'd better get some lunch on the go and then get off into town

Shannaratiger · 21/08/2008 12:22

Afternoon all

Jas & TMH hope you both have a great holiday.
Bianca I'm afraid that being dry at night is a bilogical thing, the brain needs to release a certain hormone for them to manage it.
sag about the floor, you must be gutted.
What a long thread allready.
We currently have no boiler adn a big hole in the kitchen wall and very loud drilling. It's all going ok though,we escaped to the craft morning earlier and DS got his haircut. They've both been really good this morning.
Hello to everyone else, I have to go and keep the dc's away from the kitchen
BBL

lucysmam · 21/08/2008 13:00

grouchy yes it was me who was curious about the vinegar thing, would be worth investing in some if it's that good! although my kitchen's not too bad atm since its all new but since we've started letting lo wander through there i can see it getting grubby and fingermarked very quickly

well since we have no lo today I'd like to be in the kitchen baking biccy's, instead in playing on the www. again and avoiding looking at the flashing light that means my washing should really be outside. Maybe another cuppa will help motivate me since i'd have to go in the kitchen to put kettle on . . . . we'll see

Loopy I have a few bits of girls stuff in 4 years, they're all upstairs though so not sure what! will bring them down and write you a list later, if any of it's any use to you you're welcome to it but will have to post next Friday when we get paid

Skramble · 21/08/2008 13:54

Ok second tea break

hung out the washing and found a load in the dryer from last wed. oops.
And well thats about it, oh did a bit of weeding and faffed about.

But a good start I suppose after being away from Fly for so long.

Will do mission later as it is upstairs and far too much effort involved. .

FrockHorror · 21/08/2008 13:56

Hi Ladies, mind if I ask you a question re the sink shining thing?

The instructions say to use cleanser, such as baking soda etc. I don't have any of that stuff so what could I use instead? Or could I leave that bit out?

I did used to do FLYing but have reverted back to my slovenly ways. Now just trying to get things back into shape

Skramble · 21/08/2008 13:59

Just make sure it is nice and clean, mine is white manky plastic so never looks all that clean never mind shiney. But the habit will stick eventually I always have a clear sink and it is normally clean too.

I even clean BF,s sink out of habit, he must think I am mental when I make a cuppa and start cleaning his sink .

Skramble · 21/08/2008 14:00

So who is on baby steps and who is past that bit now, I don't recognise names now its been so long since I used Fly?

TheMadHouse · 21/08/2008 14:07

Afternoon all

Back from shopping with mum and the children, just about to unpack the car, then iron and then sort clothes snd stuff.

I will then fit it all in the car - NOT

OP posts:
Jas · 21/08/2008 14:20

Well my house is looking alot cleaner, but I'm only half way packed.

We leave at 4am Saturday, so I have tomorrow to finish off what I don't get done today.

LML I haven't got anything small enough for your dd. Sorry.

Shanna - Glad you reminded about the night wetting/hormone thing. DD2s bed was wet this am, but she didn't tell me I found wet pjs in the corner of her room She is nearly 8, but my brother and dp were both older than that before they were dry at night, so it hasn't been a big surprise.

It did remind me to pack the plastic sheet for her bed on hols....she doesn't do it often but would be very upset if she soaked the matress when we were away.

Bianca - fior your ds. But good that he is ok. Is it a commorn mistake to make I wonder? My friends ds had the same thing missed this year.

Saga - my insurance paid for new carpet in three rooms under similar circs...only one was damaged but it was no longer made, and the house is (sort of ) open plan (We have no doors!

scattyspice · 21/08/2008 14:48

Hi all.
frock I just rinse the sink out with water, sometimes throw some bleach down.
skramble I am on babysteps again as have been flying for over 6mnths but never really did babysteps .

Back from seaside.

I have put all the housey toys in DH new shed and instructed them to 'play house'.I am planning to relax on a deckchair with a book. Wish me luck lol.

TheMadHouse · 21/08/2008 15:26

Arg.......... Thunder and lightening, so have stopped packing the car.

I have packed most of the stuff I think.

SO I am going to sort the ironing

And then pull out my clothes etc

tigger32 · 21/08/2008 15:28

Hello everyone, is it ok if I join you all? I haven't signed up to flylady yet but have looked at website and the baby steps. I am a little confused though, do I just follow baby steps to start with or do I need to sign up for emails and start the full on daily routines straight away? Sorry to be a nuisance.

lucysmam · 21/08/2008 15:40

hello tigger, just do babysteps (or at least i personally would) then sign up for emails when you're ready

good rainy afternoon EVERYONE else

how are we all today? all busily busy?

I've just baked, loads!!!! we have, shortbread and coconit biccys and choc chip biccys and chocolate concrete and some jam& coconut tarts!! all very yummy (i've been sampling as ive gone along)

and i did a load of washing, lo's bed but now it's absolutely peeing it down and can't be bothered with td so going to bung on radiators (haven't a clue where clothes airer has vanished to)

just a bit bored now without my monster to play with as oh seems to be sulking about something so can't get a straight answer as to what he'd like to do for the next hour. ooh, better re-make lo's bed with new bedding really before she gets back at bed time!!!

ttfn xx

lucysmam · 21/08/2008 15:40

coconit should be coconut!

tigger32 · 21/08/2008 15:54

littlemissloopy · 21/08/2008 16:16

Hi I'm back from town, just thinking about supper now.

Lucysmam thank you, don't worry there isn't a rush I am drooling at the thought of all that baking....yum!
jas never mind thanks for looking

Hope jas and TMH you both have good holidays

scattyspice · 21/08/2008 16:38

Well the play house in the shed was briefly successful, only I ended up having to sit in there with them pretending to drink tea so didn't get much reading done!

To do:
Tidy up [
sort laundry
calendar
Bank balance
Tel sister.

Happy holidays mad and jas (early starts?)
