Silicone baking trays - you can't can you?

Does this stuff really work???
Really?
And not melt in a gooey heap?
It's making my brain hurt.

I saw some lovely looking silicone Barbie pink ones, muffin 'tins' and a roll up tray that made me .

My nearly 80 year old mother took the piss out of me and started pointing out washing-frocks and the like. Not fair!

Yes they work, they are quite brilliant actually, stuff just slips out of them with no mess and then you just stick them in the dishwasher.

Slubberdegullion · 18/08/2008 18:37

It works.

It does not melt.

I have a few bits and bobs including the heartshape cupcake mould that motherinferior recommended to me (see results on profile).

I like it.

LynetteScavo · 18/08/2008 18:39

I bought some, and raved about them to my mum. She got so excited about them, she bought me loads more. I now have a zillion mii muffin cases, and lots of mini flan cases.

They are great, though, especially as you can just stick them in the dishwasher and they come out pristine.

Another fan here, but get the slightly stiffer framed ones rather than the really floppy ones.
Mastrad and the Jamie Oliver ones are the two that I'd recommend.

MingMingtheWonderPet · 18/08/2008 18:49

Like the heart shaped cupcakes.

Do you not need to line them then?

Slubberdegullion · 18/08/2008 18:50

nope. bung mix in. pop cakes out.

ranting · 18/08/2008 18:51

Nope no lining required. Or at least I never bother with mine

brimfull · 18/08/2008 18:52

anyone have a link

bran · 18/08/2008 18:52

They are fab, I have silicone muffin trays and they work really well. You do have to wait until the muffins cool slightly before taking them out, but that's more because the muffins tend to fall apart when they're hot than because they stick.

The flat sheets are really good for putting into roasting dishes when doing roasted veg, nothing ever sticks to them.

Slubberdegullion · 18/08/2008 18:57

heart shaped mould lots of other stuff on the JL website too

brimfull · 18/08/2008 18:58

thanks

Slubberdegullion · 18/08/2008 18:59

I believe this crowd were the first to make them (or so they claim). I have been to a Demarle Rubber evening which sadly was not nearly as racy as it sounds although the lady presenter did make some mini lime drizzle cakes the blew me away.

trace2 · 18/08/2008 19:01

i make yorkshire pubs in my muffin ones

Enraha · 18/08/2008 19:04

a cupboard free of clanging, greasy, burnt on bits with awkward shapes? What's not to like there?

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 18/08/2008 19:05

oh yes trace. I do mini yorkies in my mini muffin tray. They look tres sophisticated. hmm I wonder if a sophisticated yorkshire pudding is an oxymoron?

trace2 · 18/08/2008 19:07

lol

SuperBunny · 18/08/2008 19:08

I can't get mine clean (no dishwasher). Aside from that, I love them.

MingMingtheWonderPet · 18/08/2008 19:26

I may have to invest, sounds fab. Can't stand all that greasing and lining.

AbbaFan · 18/08/2008 19:31

I got the Jamie Oliver muffin tray 2 years ago and still hav'nt used it

and I bake all the time!!!
