Getting butter/oil stain out of cotton trousers

Help!

Got back from a birthday party and dd appears to have smudged butter cream icing into my cotton trousers.

Any surefire ways of getting the stain out oh wise ones!

Rub fairy liquid into them before putting them into the washing machine.

vanish oxy-action. Not tried it w butter, but it can get dd's tomato sauce stains out of a white t-shirt so got to be worth a go!
