It is getting like the 7 Plagues of Egypt here: mice in the spring, wasps last week and now farking fruit flies everywhere.
I have put up a flypaper in the kitchen where they are mostly hanging out, but is there anything else to shift them? And are they coming because of the compost bin (which is at the back of the garden though garden is not big).

Put vinegar, washing up liquid and honey into a jar. They fall in and drown.

We did this at uni - experiments on fruit flies. We knocked them out with alcohol, so we could "sex" them and seperate them, then they would come back to life. But too much alcohol and they would be gonners.

So anything with alcohol in. hth

That also explains why I was fishing the little feckers out of my red wine the other night

eugh yes i know what you mean! i have them around my fruit bowl so had to move to fridge. Does anyone know if they def law eggs in the fruit? Would you eat fruit that they had been buzzinig round?

If you put your washing up gloves on and wet them if makes it easier to catch the little bastards. So does the dyson. Just suck them up. They are also attracted by honey so you could leave some on a jar lid.

I have little black buggers in my house. No idea how to get rid of them so I'm resorting to hoovering and washing up gloves.

I have one of those electric tennis racquet fly killer gadgets. I zapp them and if they get stuck on racquet I zapp them again and again until they are frazzled & smoking... I REALLY hate fruit flies. Almost as much as hyperactive bluebottles.

Not sure on honey idea - wouldn't that attract ants?
