What’s the best way to wash up?

I have never been any good at this, but I am about to move my family into a rental flat with no dishwasher.

Please tell me everything! EVERYTHING!!!

What draining rack should I buy? What order do you do things? What are the best products?

The latest trend also seems to be a stainless steel washing up bowl.

Really? What a daft idea.

Fairy liquid stinks and contaminates all. your utensils, crockery etc.

Rinse it off.

I save the washing from the day (small amount as DD3 is at nursery and it’s just me and DS1 at home) after rinsing I stack next to the sink.

During dinner being cooked, I do the day stuff then as dinner is being cooked I wash as I go to get it to a minimal amount when we have had dinner.

We swear by Fairy Max antibacterial (blue liquid). I do hot water and do glasses first always then rinse them with water from tap. Next any mugs that need doing and rinse. Then cutlery and rinse. Then plates after I’ve rinsed any left over sauce etc off. Plates in same water as I’ve used for the glasses and mugs, again rinse.

Then I use fresh water for chopping board, I then wipe down the sides with that water. Then I do any trays I’ve used or the airfryer, again rinse.

If it needs soaking, I will put fairy in it and fill with hot water and leave on side either for 10 mins or overnight if it’s something like lasagne and needs a good soak.

I then spray and wipe down washing up bowl and sink.

Before I go to bed I fill with hot soapy water again and put in the kids water bottles they’ve used in the day and my DD’s one she takes to nursery,DH’s coffee flask and soak overnight. In the morning rub them over with the sponge and rinse with cold water and ready do go.

The key to fairy is the rinsing part, to make sure any soapy residue or bubbles are off the item.
