Storage Containers

I need some ideas for storage of these things please......

I've run out of ways of storing silly things like...... bags of sugar/choc powder/DD's milk tubs/bottles etc...

DD's clothes that she's grown out of? I don't want to get rid of them as we are planning on having another DC at some point.

Toys - Big things like her walker?

How do I store her smaller toys in the living room? I saw a lovely wicker basket but the cats will kill it. I was gonna use a plastic tub but it's not really decorative IYKWIM

Thanks all.

I have a really small house so storage is also an issue. We've got this Ikea bookcase in the dining room which houses these baskets - the 32 x 35 x 32 box fits a section beautifully. The bookcase we have on its side rather than looking like a bookcase, so there's storage on the top. If cats are a prob you could put the baskets slightly higher up so they couldn't scratch them? The system is working well so DS's toys are in one basket and I just bring it into the lounge and then put it away in the evening.
Re: walker though I don't know, I would like one for DS but I would have nowhere to put it either! Food storage, I bought these and they are really coming in useful.

Thanks MrsJ. Looks like a trip to Ikea is on the cards then.

Lapin - Those storage bags are a good idea, I forgot bout them.
can't put stuff behind sofas cos they're recliners.

All our beds have boxes underneath - I measure the size of the space under the bed and then shop for storage boxes that will fit best thus giving optimum storage space.
Anything not currently in use, ie clothes I buy in the sales in bigger sizes for the kids, is bagged up clearly labelled and put in the loft.
THen its usually a regular culling of toys, games, clothes etc the minute they finish with anything.
So I suppose my main storage areas are ebay and the charity shop
I don't bother getting storage for kitchen things that come in packets, I just put the packets in the cupboards.

Thanks flibberty only prob is qwe got no loft (or at least not that we can put anything in, its filthy) and we got no cupboard space left.

Our loft is mega filthy - the house is 180 years old and its all the original dust and I can't fit through the hole anymore since I had the children
Every so often I nag dp for about 3 weeks to shove some stuff up there - I bag it in lots of clear plastic bags with pieces of paper inside showing whats in it, ie 'summer clothes age 2-3', and basically dp just opens the hatch and stuffs bags up without actually going up there! I make sure they are well taped up to keep out the dust.
THen just twice a year I send him up with a torch to get down all the bags that I've labelled for the season. THat way I can ebay clothes in spring that my two outgrew the previous summer, without having to find stuff in the drawers for them.
Its such a filthy job going up there that we have to put dust sheets under the access and do it when the kids are out of the house. We both wear old clothes - I usually end up grubbiest and all I do is stand at the bottom of the ladders!
We are moving shortly to a house thats had a loft conversion... no loft to shove things in... eeek!

Hmmm. I'll see if I can get him to go up there then and see what kinda space we've got.
