Please do me a list of where 'things' should 'live'

Space is short. I need to maximise its use!

make up - small basket on my dressing table
hairbrushes - one in bathroom, on shelf over door, one on dressing table
wellies - wardrobes / hall / shoe cupboard in hall
laundry basket - corner of bedroom
toys - shelf and box in sitting room, shelves in dining room, shelves in bedroom. Too many toys!
spare coats - wardrobes
shoes - wardrobes plus shoe cupboard in hall - I really like our shoe cupboard, it is very slim but fits loads of shoes in

ie make up lives --in a bag on bathroom shelf.
hairbrushes live --bathroom for kids, DDs room for hers, kitchen shelf for mine
wellies live --in car
laundrey basket lives ----on landing and in utility room
toys live---everywhere
spare coats live ---hanging up by front rdoor and in cae
shoes live -----by front door

Don't have any apart from x-boxes etc. but previously playroom or under beds.

Don't follow my advice...

ie make up lives -- on the shelf. (Should be in a mini chest of drawers).
hairbrushes live -- wherever it's dropped.
(Should be in the downstairs loo)
wellies live -- wherever they're kicked off.
(Should be under the stairs once cleaned).
laundrey basket lives -- don't use one.
(Clothes should be taken straight to utility).
toys live--- everywhere.
(Should be in bedrooms).
spare coats live -- where they're dumped.
(Should be, erm not quite sure).
shoes live -- in a line in the hall.
(Should be under the stairs).

Yes, I definitely need a tidy up.

make up - on top of my chest of drawers in bedroom, in a little bag
hairbrushes - mine is in my bedroom next to my hairdryer, DHs in the bathroom, DDs in the living room on the mantlepiece
wellies - on shoe rack in the cupboard under the stairs, or if very wet weather they just live next to the back door
laundry basket - large basket in my bedroom (upstairs), plus laundry bag hanging on the back of the bathroom door (downstairs)
toys - shelving unit in dining room, basket in living room, stacking boxes in DDs room, plus various other things scattered around the place!
spare coats - in cupboard under the stairs or my wardrobe, depending on season
shoes - should be in cupboard under the stairs, or my wardrobe upstairs, but mostly end up in a messy pile on the floor of our very narrow hallway
