Two Adults , neither does a single chore bar maybe washing a plate after use.. Packed lunches , tea cooked, washing , drying, folding , all household cleaning and gardening etc... you get the drift...
Parents doing everything but I guess it's our fault for doing it!
Now getting to the stage of resenting doing these things daily with little thanks as we are quite fed up tbh.

My 25 year old ds hasn't been paying any board but is moving out soon and we haven't had to help him with a deposit so that is fine by me. Everyone is different. My dd's bf's mum charges him £500 a month and he is only 21.

Actual amounts depend on their income.

DS1 works full time and pays £400 per month.
DS2 doesn't work and is waiting on a PIP assessment. He currently pays £200.

They both have to do chores, although DS1 is terrible at doing his share. He seems to have this weird idea the because he doesnt get home until almost midnight he doesn't have to do any. I have told him he needs to do his before work! (He doesn't leave the house until 1pm)

Unlike a lot of MNers though, I don't think adult children should cook separately, do their own laundry etc. My DC choose to do their own laundry. Fine. But 3 people cooking different meals at different times is stupid IMO. However, everyone has to take their to turn to cook.

Are you the parent? Honestly this is embarrassing for these young adults. They should be ashamed. Absolutely stop doing anything at all for them beyond social stuff of living in a house together.

And if they are not actively saving for future education or a baby or something, and they are in full time employment, I’d take a minimum of £600 a month each off them for board and lodging. Life is tough these days, a bit like it was in the 1950s and 1960s when my parents and their siblings were still living at home as adults in an (admittedly deprived) area. The idea that the mother of the family would fetch and carry for nothing would not have flown. At all.

Our adult sons are still living at home (25 & 23) they pay £150 a month each, they are both saving up for deposit etc. we can afford to do it, but it is definitely on the low side I know.
