Can I use HG mould spray? Any other suggestions please?

I used astonish mould and mildew spray. Gave it a scrub. Didn’t get rid of it all but big improvement. I now wash on 40c as I swear it was due to washing at low temps! As never had it before that.

Would a bit of washing machine cleaner on a cloth work? I’ve never had mould on the washing machine seal. Do you leave the door ajar so it can dry out?

PashaMinaMio · 03/05/2026 11:05

Leave the door open for a while after use. I prop mine ajar with a rolled tea towel; just for a couple hours.

Wipe the seal with damp kitchen paper and some kind of cleaning fluid. I use an All Purpose fluid I buy from Aldi.
Do this regularly.

It’s inside the seal at the bottom where the water resides, I always leave my door open as it’s not in the way and I still get some mould marks on the big inner bit where the water sits, along with hair!

Thanks both, I tend to wash at low temperatures. The door is v slightly ajar but I could leave it open more.

Vinegar

That gel stuff you get on Amazon is brilliant, I think I might've seen it on Instagram first, it comes with a nozzle so you apply it directly. I used it on marks on sealant after trying all the usual methods

quick wash a towel (not your finest!) with white vinegar in the conditioner compartment, no detergent.
then use this damp towel to wipe around the glass, seal and inside the seal fold.

every now and then use a long cotton cycle, the short ones are just not good to use all of the time.

and yes, leave the door and drawer open for a bit after a wash.

The “must have ideas” mold magic gel is the only stuff I’ve tried that works, well, like magic! It also works on shower seals, but not on grout.
Have previously tried other products and bleach soaked kitchen roll etc to no avail.

I'm sure it was HG mould Spray I used. Worked perfectly.

I always wipe my seals after each wash and take the detergent tray out and dry it and leave it on the side to air dry. Never have any mould. It was my husband who told me this.
