Housekeeping

Find cleaning advice from other Mumsnetters on our Housekeeping forum.

We are moving in few weeks and am determined to be more organised. Look at my schedule and help me to work out a routine I might stick to.

Am struggling to be superwoman at the moment.

Have two DSs 3 and nearly 1.

Day currently goes like this

5am Ds2 wakes up
5-6 we struggle to keep DS2 quite and try desperately to snooze for a bit longer
6am I get up and get ready
6.30 DS1 and DH get up.
6.30 - 7 get DCs ready for nursery
7 leave house drop off at nursery and into work for 7.45

5.45 Finish work and dash to nursery
6.45 get back home. snack, baths bed.
8 generally DCs settled cook dinner
8.30ish eat dinner like zombie
9ish do an hour or two more work
10.30ish get boys bags clothes etc ready for morning
11 collapse into bed.

My house is a permanent tip. I am always on the back foot. How can I build in some household stuff without going to bed at midnight??

All and any ideas will be considered since this is getting silly

Can you give DH's schedule too please?

mummyjaguar · 20/06/2008 18:22

same apart from the fact that he gets up at 6.30 rather than 6. He does more work than me in the evenings and because of his work as to go to lots of networking things in the evenings.

He is very hands on.

erm, a cleaner for a couple of hours a week?

Otherwise, I think one of you needs to clean at the weekend while the other takes the boys out for an hour or two.

mummyjaguar · 20/06/2008 18:26

The problem is we spend every weekend cleaning and tidying at the moment because by the end of the week the place is such a tip.

I don't know where I'd be without the Roomba. At least my carpets are clean!

I did miss out that I have friday afternoons with the boys (hence am mumsnetting when I should be playing )
I guess I'm going to have to clean on the afternoon off but I feel like I might as well be at work when I do that.

We had a cleaner and we let her go because we're moving and she had another job to go to. We'll have to find one in the new house.

Anyone manage to do household stuff by having a routine and doing bits every day? If so can I copy your schedule?

Do you think I'll find it tough to find a cleaner given that we'll be in short term rented accommodation?

you seem to have a hectic work load alreday , i would get someone to do the washing and ironing, at least if you could drop of or pick up on lunch hour etc that would be something less to do at home.

cleaners should be easy enough to find but
