How to fluff up a down filled jacket.

Bought two down filled jackets off vinted. One ok the other very flat. I don't have a tumble dryer so gave to my mum to wash and tumble dry . One has come out puffed but the other still flat. Is this beyond fixing? I've a feeling it's been previously washed and left to dry without tumbling.

Wash it and put it in the tumble dryer with several tennis balls. It's a bit noisy but it fluffs up the down.

I had this last week, tumble drying didn’t work on its own. I do t have tennis balls so used a trainer and this worked. So wash it again, tumble drying didn’t with a trainer or balls this time.

Wash again using proper down wash (you can get it from Go Outdoors, Amazon etc). Clean the soap tray out before you run the washing machine, normal washing detergent matts the down, so you want to get rid of the residue.

Then as others have said, tumble dry on low heat with tennis balls or tumble dryer balls (down wash often comes in a kit with dryer balls).

Give it a bloody good shake several times a day and keep it in the airing cupboard between shakes.

As above.
Down needs to be really dry to be fluffy, but down jackets etc do leak down with age, and sometimes do loose enough to get a bit thin. Cheap feathers (rather than pure down) can break down and become less fluffy with age too.

You will definitely need to tumble dry it with tennis balls or some of those dryer balls. It will come up as good as new.

I always wash my down in a heatwave and hang it out in the sun!!

I don't have access to a tumble dryer but the vigorous shaking is working.
