Decorating DD's bedroom. All suggestions welcome

DD is ready to move out of her cot and into a bed. We have never decorated her room as we only did it just before I found out I was pregnant. I want to make it really special for her. All her furniture is ivory and she has oak floorboards. Like all little girls she loves pink.I have already got pink gingham bedding for her but don't really want wall to wall pink. Any ideas what colours would look nice or should I just stick with magnolia?

My dd's have pink bedding and curtains. The walls are yellow/green (we haven't redecorated since we moved in) and that looks quite nice. Especially since I hate pink.

We had some stickers on the wall but they were so easy to remove that they have all gone now, with some help from dd2.

I got it in a wee local interiors store in my mums village would you believe and I love it

I FOUND IT I FOUND IT I FOUND IT

am so excited I found it and am probably the only one excited by that

OP, your dd is probably already 15yrs old by now and has painted her rooms aubergine and died her hair black

here it is just incase she hasn't!!!

flutter by flower wall paper

just to paint a better picture

the wall is the butterflies on a cream background, dd1 has a duvet cover of the butterflies on the aqua background and the hearts on pink background and dd2 has duvet cover of butterflies on pink and pillow of hearts on aqua

the blinds are blue backed hot air balloons

well done if you've got this far but I LOVE their room and wanted to share

Dizzy the wallpaper is lovely and there is a stockist near me! Will show DH when he gets in and pop in to the shop to see if it's in stock.

She is in her cot having a sleep at the moment. When she wakes up the cot will be dismantled and her bed put up! I had wanted to decorate before we put her bed up but we can't do it for a couple of weeks and I think she needs to go in her bed now. I also think it may work better getting her used to her bed for a few weeks before decorating it. Also the benefit that we can see how the furniture fits in best before we decide how to decorate each wall.My mum is having her for the weekend at the end of July so we will decorate then. I'll let you know what we decide on (although I think you will have more important things on your mind in July!)

I painted this it was really easy and cheap. There are loads of other choices too.

dizzydixies · 21/06/2008 17:44

lubyloo am thrilled you like it after my pathetic efforts searching for it lol

its not cheap which is why we only did one wall and the girls duvets etc are backed with plain material but I've not regretted it for one second, I still love it and they've washed & kept really well

let me know how you get on!
