DD has been working away for several months and her car is sitting on our drive. I've just noticed that the seats ( black cloth ) have green mould. I obviously can't use bleach. Any ideas? Bicarb? TIA

I’d get her to take it for a professional clean as you don’t want to ruin it.

Good idea. It looks awful though.

Use a damp cloth soaked in white vinegar.

Yikes this happened to our car during Covid. I think I cleaned it off with the Vax with normal carpet shampoo and from the steering wheel with cif, not sure it’s recommended but it was fine. The green stuff is just on the surface.

I'd go for a professional clean. The real issue is everything you can't see under the surface.

If her car has been sitting on the drive for months (not being used), youre going to have worse problems than mould on the seats:

I do drive it every now and again, as does she when she comes home for weekends. The mould can only have developed over the past month or so. I found a mouldy food packet under the seat yesterday! But I'll have a look at this. Thank you.

Wear a mask. Scrub seats and carpets with soapy water to remove mould.

Spray on white vinegar (cheap stuff) or methylated spirits to kill the mould. Spray everywhere whether you can see the mould or not. Don’t be shy.

Then

Take it to a professional who can remove the seats and carpets to wash AND DRY properly. Be sure to do the ceiling. Then get the aircon serviced and the filter replaced.

Brilliant. I was wondering if white vinegar would be safe to use. I'll find a mask and plan to do it on Friday. Thanks. Much appreciated.
