Jeans and trousers getting long white stripes after washing, what causes it?

Laundry failure again! I keep ruining jeans and trousers they come out of the washing machine with a long stripe down one or both legs. Any ideas what causes it? I've tried washing inside out, tried putting them in a wash bag. Maybe the load is too full. Any suggestions? And can the stripe be removed? They never have washed out.

It happens when the load is too full and/or a really fast spin- basically a tight fold gets created and the fabric is damaged. If you wash on a gentler cycle they will be ok

Thanks for your reply. I do have a tendency to cram a bit too much in, so it's probably that.

People are often advised to use the highest spin possible or even to spin twice. This is great for heavy things like towels as it leaves them dryer. It’s terrible for most clothes/fabrics imo.
i wash jeans very infrequently as mine seem to fade quickly.
I wash them on 20 minute quick wash or short delicate wash.
I reduce the temperature to 30 and adjust the spin to lower speed.
I think that for jeans, powder can also cause white marks/lines although I use powder for other items.

Wash everything inside out. Any ‘damage’ caused by the machine will be on the inside and not the outside. Hang your washing on the line the same way, it reduces sun damage and fading.
