Any ideas on what I can try? Ds was sick on sunday, cleaned with carpet cleaner and mild bleach solution at time but smell still lingering.

Have run out of carpet cleaner now having used it quite a lot in other places on sunday! Should I try washing powder?

bicarbonate of soda and then BIOLOGICAL washing powder

this worked to get the smell out of DS's mattress when he was sick

i would test on a part of the carpet you can't see first, as the washing powder may bleach the carpet

Bicarb of soda
Spinkle on
Leave for as long as poss
Hoover up

sagacious · 17/06/2008 13:10

spinkle ?

Thats a sprinkle

desperatehousewifetoo · 17/06/2008 13:14

Bugger, no bicarb of soda. Mixed herbs do?!

Will go and get some later. Do you reckon bicarb better than carpet cleaner anyway?

Don't mind about washing powder bleaching carpet, it quite pale and I already put bleach on it.

Only got non-bio wshing powder too. I'm really not prepared am I? Can you tell my two dcs are not ill very often?

Mixed herbs

Err no !

Bicarb will be in baking section of supermarket .. unless they're V green and actually realise its a totally fab natural cleaner/deodorisers

(I can get quite evangelical on the subject but I won't bore you further)

Hope your dc's are better soon

Thanks to you both, sagacious and rubyslippers.

I did have bicarb in the cupboard but rmember throwing it out as it was out of date (and possibly unopenned )

Ds all fine now. Back at school today, thank goodness and dd doesn't seem to have it -yet!

Try carpet 1001 no wet wonder foam blue green yellow can I think. morrisons and wilkinsons do it. brilliant stuff !!!! This is the only product that worked when my son was sick on the carpet and his room smelt awful. none of the other stuff worked. Try this and it will go!! just spray on and hoover later

desperatehousewifetoo · 18/06/2008 13:32

Thanks foxy. I had some of the spray 1001 but ran out. I'm ashamed to say that all I have done since yesterday is keep opening the window - such a bad mum
