WildestDreamer · 31/12/2025 14:44

I need to clean DDs teddies, we’ve had mice and I think they have been through her panda collection!
what’s the best way to clean a large amount, without use of a tumble dryer…….

Poor teddies !
I'd want to make sure they were very clean after mice had been attacking them ..you could send them to a Teddy bear hospital for them to be properly cleaned and repaired ( if needed )

Oh goodness … washing machine with antibacterial fluid addition, and radiator if you don’t have a tumble dryer … or use a laundromat

Marylou62 · 31/12/2025 16:07

There's hardly anything I would not wash in the machine. And if there were loads of teddies I would use a laundromat.

Put them in laundry bags, otherwise the eyes get scratched and dull. You'll just have to pin them up by the ears and be patient. If you don't have much drying space, put them in the freezer which will kill most bugs and do them 5 a day.

Do you have a dehumidifier? Place them around that, if so - or get a cheap one. I use mine all the time to dry teddies, blankets, and favourite clothes quickly.

Spray them with antibac, leave for an hour or so, then into the washing machine. Dry them on the windowsill over a radiator, or in the airing cupboard.

I used to work with small children and dealt with the soft toys routinely this way.

Washing machine, then brush the fur against the grain, so it stands up. On top of radiators until dry, then brush again, this time with the fur.

Washing machine with daz. I call it ‘the soft toys are going for a trip around the washing machine’
do not tumble dry, just leave out and they dry quite quickly

I would put them into a plastic bag and freeze for 48 hours first. It will knock off the dust mites before washing. Then a hot wash.
