If you’re tumble drying your bedding…

What setting do you use so it doesn’t end up tied up in a ball and forever damp after 10 mins? Bonus points for LG dryer settings as that’s what I have

I use the slow eco mode so it doesn't tangle as easily.

isitmytime · 17/12/2025 21:48

mine is cotton bedding I chuck it on the 50 min setting it’s the hottest setting and gets the bedding dried quickly but it doesn’t smell as nice as the longer more gentle setting

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/12/2025 21:48

I put it in, turn the dial to the rough amount of time it should take for the amount I’ve put in and shut the door. I’ve never given it a second thought and it always comes out okay. It has normal and low, no other modes.

I do close duvet covers up before washing them which stops other things getting stuck in them and staying wet.

Those spiky tumble dryer balls help a bit, I use 4

Astrial · 17/12/2025 21:50

Tumble drier balls and every now and then I'll pop open the door and untangle /give everything a shake.

blankcanvas3 · 17/12/2025 21:51

I make sure it’s zipped or buttoned shut and then do it on the cupboard dry setting. Never had a problem

Oh my goodness, I’m 38 years old and never thought to DO THE DUVET COVERS UP in the laundry and when drying! I’m always finding damp screwed up socks and underwear that have made their way in during a cycle when it’s too late.

I think you’ve just revolutionised my life!

This!

Marmite27 · 17/12/2025 21:56

DH is normally in charge of laundry here, but he has flu. Due to the flu he sweated all over the duvet so it had to be washed. He asked how it came out not balled up, and I’m not entirely sure. I did the buttons up, and put it on the same setting he does.

Entirely more luck than judgement!

cupfinalchaos · 17/12/2025 21:57

I don’t tumble dry bedding as I find cotton always shrinks.

Sesma · 17/12/2025 22:01

Though the tumble dryer balls do haunt DH a bit, he occasionally finds one in his shirt sleeve or pillowcase and the other day he thought there was one in the bed but I checked and they were all present in the dryer.

Ineedanewsofa · 17/12/2025 22:04

Having had my old faithful vented dryer give up on me after many years service last week I am now in new dryer setting hell - particularly as the replacement is a condenser dryer! I hate it but it was a freebie, takes 3 times as long to dry anything 😭
I actually pause this one and shake the sheets out after it’s been on for a while which does help with the balling up

awrbc81 · 17/12/2025 22:05

I have a beko dryer and put it on the “bedding” setting but stop it a few times to untangle everything.
Best one I’ve had for bedding not ending up in a massive ball is my old vented Hotpoint

Sesma · 17/12/2025 22:24

I'm not sure a lot of these settings are much different anyway, the cooler delicate ones will be but bedding, shirts, towels, mixed on mine all seem similar just different lengths of time, they all take ages. My old Hotpoint vented just had warm and hot which was sufficient really

TeaRoseTallulah · 20/12/2025 21:14

I don't do anything, I put the washing in the drier and turn it on and comes out dry and crease free. Maybe it's to do with the type of dryer?

I don’t tumble dry anything but on this theme, I wash my duvet covers buttoned up & inside out because it makes it that much easier to put them back on when dry.

puppyparent · 20/12/2025 21:41

You gotta either button up the duvet cover or dry it separately from the other stuff otherwise everything ends up caught inside the duvet cover and gets into a tangled lump

TeaRoseTallulah · 20/12/2025 22:10

I've never buttoned a duvet cover up in my life,I wonder I don't have any of these issues,I'm not complaining 😂

‘Cottons - Minimum iron’ on our Miele - designed for just this purpose.

ToDoOrNot2Do · 21/12/2025 01:33

Hate to tell you - it's the tumble dryer. They are not all made equal.

I have a Miele, this must be why.
