I've read through the first email about cleaning your sink. can you really use soap scourers (SOS pads) on a stainless steel sink? Won't it scratch the sink? I've always been told NEVER to uuse them on things like that and I'm afraid of ruining my sink and dh going mad.

Morning Routine - How do you do all that stuff when you arn't in in the mornings. OK I can do a couple of the things in the bathroom as I'm getting ready and the kids are eating their breakfast but I have to wash, dress and generally get everyone ready and be out of the house by 8.00am. How can I do things like the washing especially as my tumble drier is in the shed outside.

At the moment I count myself lucky if I manage to get us all washed and dressed without tears. I eat my breakfast at work!!

No idea about scourers in stainless steel sinks. I've never tried. I just wash and dry it, and if I'm feeling really shiny,I use baby oil on it

Morning routine - as Ruby says, you work out a routine to suit you. If you are out of the house early then keep your routine short and manageable (but consider getting up a bit earlier than the children if you don't already), and add other stuff to the evening routine.....put a load of washing in the machine in the evening and then hang out/put in t/d in the morning so it is dry when you get home?

Jas · 10/06/2008 14:57

Doing as much as you can the night before is a good idea. Eve better if your children ar school age and you can get them in the habit of getting their own stuff together for the next day!

Do I dare confess that ds aged 4 gets up at 6.30am goes downstairs and puts Thomas on the TV? I get up at 7.30am and wake dd aged 6 up, we are out of the house at 8am.

But I am up til 1.00am on the computer. A bit of re-evaluation needed I think!!!

lol
I only get up early because ds (2) doesn't give me a choice.

Try getting up at 7 and see how much more you can get done(not allowed to turn on pc until all children and fed and ready to leave though!)

Doing the baby steps created a morning routine for me if that makes sense. You need the baby steps.

PS I never scoured

EHM · 10/06/2008 15:57

I've no idea about the scourers either I use Bar Keepers Friend

I am up very early too, I have no choice dd who is 2 has always been an early riser. I am too a light weight in bed by 10 most nights. Earlier is I need too

I agree with Ruby that morning routine should be what works for you. Although doing stuff the night before as jas suggested helps. baby steps always helped as TMH suggested.

You could always join the Fly Daily Thread they are a lovely bunch of ladies who keep me sane with their endless amounts of support & encouragement.

I use Shiny Sinks on my stainless steel sink. It looks lovely afterwards.

Go through the babysteps and you'll create a routine that suits you.

Come and join us on the fly thread and we'll help you through the babysteps.

Been to Wilkinson's on the way home from school/ballet class buying cleaning products. I now have one sink full of bleach waiting to be rinsed then scrubbed.

I even cleaned the sink at work earlier though we only had bleach and washing up liquid, no other cleaners! Did the manky cutlery drainer though urgh!

I never mean to stay on the pc til 1am. I partly work from home so do my admin, then end up on mumsnet and similar forums and before I know it......

Well done on the sink shining.
You've inspired me to do mine properly tonight, too.

I'm a late night person, too. Even if I stay off the computer I'll be reading into the wee hours. Not surprising I look so tired all the time. Evenings are my only child free time. I can't give them up....I'd rather be tired!

islandofsodor · 10/06/2008 20:51

Where did all that gunk come from? I now have one shiny sink (and yes, I used a brillo pad)

I'll take this over to the other thread now I think!!!!
