Hello all
We are moving home in August and I just don't know where to start with packing etc. Does anyone have any super tips for me? Thanks

I would suggest asking the removal company (if you are using one) to pack. We did and they packed the whole house in 6 hours. It took all the stress out of moving, all we had to do on the day was make lunch and pack the odd box if we wanted to. It means that you don't spend weeks surrounded by boxes and not being able to find things that have already been packed. The only snag was they packed EVERYTHING, including their own lunch (I managed to rescue this!).

A tip that a friend of mine gave me was to have a survival kit in the car - kettle, coffee, tea, mugs, spoons, wash kit, change of clothes, favorite teddy, etc, etc so that you know you can lay your hands on these things in the new house, especially if you think the exchange of keys may be delayed.

Good luck with the move

get a packing service - will be worth every penny

however, i do recommend the following:

go through each room, one at a time and sort stuff into keep, boot sale, charity shop or tip

do this for each of the bedrooms/living room etc

check loft and garage as well as shed

I do agree that getting the removal company to pack is a great idea. But I've done this about 3 or 4 times now and sometimes they pack extremely well and sometimes they don't.

I do not want to slag off any firms online so I will only tell you the best one I have dealt with. Their rates are good, they do their best to accomodate you during busy periods, they pack well and they are pleasant movers (i.e not miserable drunks who break stuff...)

They are called SCOTTS

sorrythat URL should have had two "t"s in scotts.

Yep - get your movers to pack you and dejunk hugely first would be my tips too!

We worked out dh had done 9 or 10 trips to the dump in the week before we moved - and we have a big car so they were pretty big trips!
