Curtains - odd length needed

Hi, a weird one but there are so many experts on here

Does anyone sell a curtain with a drop that's in between 229 cm and 250 cm please? It would need to be cheap and cheerful. I'm looking at Argos and IKEA.

Ready-made obviously

even more ideally, ones that come with thermal blackout lining incorporated. I know it's a big ask.

Also, any curtain solutions for a corner? I have seen all the obvious ones, but I think the curtains are likely too heavy for a plastic rod. I don't want something that goes into the ceiling because there's already something on the wall - and the wall would need to be made good if the current track is replaced with ceiling track.

I don't know if the original curtain rail was just put up badly. It's been up for two years before coming out. It's one of those bendy ones, you know the ones that comes in a roll. There's also the issue with the flat being very very hot that doesn't help the plastic.

I might look at Swish because there's also been issues with the hooks not moving along smoothly, etc

I'll be paying someone to put this up so don't want to get into massive costs as there will be the labour as well

there are four floor ceiling windows to do.

Thank you

Paying someone to alter to desired length will be cheaper than buying made to measure. Dry cleaners often have a tailor that could do it.

Ready-made do tend to come in standard sizes so you'll struggle to find an in-between length.

90 inches - 225cm is the usual drop for full length curtains. They usually come with reasonable sized hems so you could have them let down the extra 5 cm. It's a very easy job if you can sew? If not, having them made especially is an option but could be expensive.

Full length with linings can be quite heavy. You do need a decent curtain rail put up with good expanding rawl plugs if going into the ceiling or preferably ensuring its screwed into the joists. Hope this helps.

I can't help with the curtains but

Put some Johnsons baby lotion on to some kitchen roll and wipe the rail down. Then watch the curtain swizz across so fast it'll fall off the other end 😂 It's just dust and grime that's making it sticky.

Thanks, everyone

@Pixiedust1234 actually I think the heat is the real problem here. A number of the hooks have broken and the plastic probably expands a bit.

@PrincessofWells yes I'm not convinced that the guy did a particularly good job and he was here for absolutely ages, it was kind of weird.

to be honest, another option is to fix the rail that's already there, but I don't feel that's a good idea.

i'd rather just get the job done once, but it's very difficult finding a reliable person to do it.

as for hemming, I suppose that's one option that would be less expensive than made to measure. The 250 does fit, but it would mean that the railing would have to go higher and once again that leaves me with a "making good" job.
