Removing transferred dye - tips?

I stupidly wore a hand/dyed ethnic style scarf out in the rain on Friday and the red dye from it has transferred to the much loved pale blue shirt I was wearing underneath Any good tips for getting the dye stains off the collar of my shirt?
Unfortunately the stains had dried before I realised what had happened; soaking overnight in cold water hasn't budged them so far.

Not the most riveting thread - but surely someone must be able to help?!

Did you just soak it in plain water OP?

Have you tried baking soda and white vinegar? Or you can just add the white vinegar to the soaking water I think?

There is another technique where you attempt to transfer the dye onto a piece of white fabric. You put a good amount of rubbing alcohol or similar onto a white cloth and then dab at the stain. The dye should transfer onto the cloth and come off the shirt. You can use anything with high alcohol content, even hairspray I believe!

Sorry, can’t think of anything else.

I’ve never tried it on fabric, but windex (eg ammonia) does very effectively remove dye transfer from other surfaces eg leather.

You could try Dr Beckmann’s Colour Collector sheets. You place a sheet in the washing machine and they remove any dye runs from stained clothing.
