Where do you buy your towels ? Looking for new hand and bath towels and don’t want to spend a lot so where is decent quality at a reasonable price.

Matalan used to do good bath sheets at a reasonable price.

Lostuser · 15/11/2025 23:36

Dunelm

Dunelm. About 10 years ago I replaced all our towels in different colours for new bathrooms. At the time George at Asda and Dunelm were recommended here in mumsnet and got some of each ( based on colours). The Dunelm ones are still nice, the Asda ones much less so.

Nottogetapenny · 16/11/2025 00:31

TK Maxx

I haven't bought towels or bed linen from anywhere else for years. Top brands at high street prices and extra Black Friday 20% off at the moment.

Sainsburys - I rate their homewares inc towels

I have Primark luxury towels and they are excellent.

EveryDayisFriday · 16/11/2025 07:03

Asda have surprisingly good towels.

Zippedydodah · 16/11/2025 07:03

George Asda bath towels are wonderful, some of mine are 8 years old and they haven’t lost colour or absorbency.

muddlingthrou · 16/11/2025 07:07

Another vote for Dunelm. We’ve just bought a couple of their Egyptian cotton sets and they’re super soft and fluffy and have washed well so far.

I was about to say the exact opposite 😆
My asda ones have lasted better than my dunelm ones! Colour has faded a lot with dunelm ones and they go very stiff (we no longer have a tumble dryer), asda ones have kept their colour and are more pliable.

NoMoreHotHols · 16/11/2025 08:00

I don’t rate Dunelm towels at all. They might be fluffy but they don’t absorb water at all. Same with towels I recently got from TK Maxx as well. None absorb water, just push it along (I got the Christy) brand from there.
Ikea towels aren’t too absorbent either.

I bought some Asda towels for dyeing my hair. They're so nice I have them in the bathroom now.

Ah - my Asda ones have faded and have gone very thin looking and a bit meh.
I guess the actual towel manufacturers must have changed.

Lifeispeacefulthere · 16/11/2025 09:22

The last time I bought towels they were from Asda, about 4 years ago, and the teens still won't use them as they are still 'too thick'. I love them though and they are still as good as when I bought them.

FeministThrowingAPrincessParty · 16/11/2025 17:56

Habitat/Sainsbury’s or home sense

ObtuseMoose · 17/11/2025 08:26

Jysk, I love their towels.

New towels sometimes have this weird chemical on them to keep them looking fluffy that makes them oddly water repellent. If you persevere it will wash off eventually. I think washing with vinegar helps speed up the process.

TroubledBloodyMary · 17/11/2025 08:55

Absolutely, @Tiredofwhataboutery.
