Does anyone send their washing out?

My washing has got out of hand following a week away in October and now we're in the dreaded winter drying months. I looked at getting a couple of service washes done and my local launderette offer collection and delivery.

I was wondering if this could be a good plan going forward for a load or 2 a week?

Does anyone do this currently and how expensive does it work out? Does it help you keep on top of things?

i would absolutely love to do this op.

i only have me dh and ds 16 in the house now but the sheer volume of washing is unreal.

I also have a few dogs so the sofa cushion covers ,dogs blankets and washable kitchen rugs all need washing weekly as well as our normal clothes bedding and towels.
unfortunately our nearest launderette in the next town doesn’t do pick up and drop offs

I have been myself before now and shoved all the bedding and towels in to two big machines and then dried it all and brought it home but the time you hang about waiting could be spent at home doing other stuff so it didn’t really change much for me

service washes I would love

I have looked into it but never done it. I also hate the winter non-drying season.

My brother sent his bedsheets out a while ago but I think he said it took quite a long time for them to come back, so he didn't feel it was quite the luxury, hotel experience he was looking for

My dad does this they pick it up from his house and charge £18 per 10kg washed, dried and folded.

This is my favourite drying season, straight on the radiator, dried and put away same day, I hate those few weeks where it’s too cold to hang outside but not cold enough indoors for the heating

I used a Service Wash at a local launderette when i had no WM during a kitchen renovation. Loved it! Towels and bed linen beautifully folded and socks paired. It all smelt amazing too. It wasn't too expensive either.

Definitely worth it and much better than waiting around at those machines you get in supermarkets car parks - they don't pair socks!

You need a heated clothes airer, OP! Mine takes a full load and if I drape a sheet or duvet cover over it to trap the heat, it's generally dry within a day. We're a household of five plus muddy dog, so plenty of washing, but winter laundry is much easier with a heated airer.

I do this when I go to Spain as our washing machine there is kaput. What joy to hand in a big bag of laundry and collect it next day all folded up neatly.
Here I have a washer/dryer. But I only do a couple loads a week (even in a house with three kids it was only about four washes a week, five if doing bed linen)
