mattress topper for elderly mum - advice needed

My 87-year-old mum is finding her bed uncomfortable after losing a lot of weight due to ill health - her back and spine specifically. I thought a mattress topper might help but have never bought one and my research so far suggests the sky’s the limit price-wise! Some as expensive as a new mattress. Can anyone recommend any that are below £100 (for a double bed size one)?

I like the Panda Bamboo one though it may be just over your budget; it’s really comfortable.

White company?

Try Devon Duvets. Their toppers are a bit pricey but made from wonderfully soft, British wool. Really worth it in my view.

I second this. I have one.

The panda bamboo one is the best. I looked at them all before buying when my daughter went to uni. Worth an extra few pounds.

If she has lost weight through ill-health, has she had an assessment of her pressure areas by the district nurse?
She may need a specialised pressure relieving mattress + cushions.

Don’t spend less than £100 - it won’t be as good as the Panda one - needs straps to keeo it in place, non slip underside, bamboo cover to wick heat away, good enough quality to not leave an indent in the middle - as cheap hybrid mattresses can do (with a memory foam topper built in). Def worth IME. I think they do a money back guarantees too - not sure - so you get to try it.

I second what @AnnaMagnani says. She may be at risk of pressure sores and need an air pressure mattress.
