Currently got a shark which doesn’t seem up to the job anymore. Had a Dyson years ago which was ok. Then had an upright shark. Then that died so got this other corded shark

aftet recommendations for a cordless Hoover which could double up as a handheld just for quick cleans on the sofa.

We have an older model Dyson for the handheld and quick use, then a Karcher for the bigger jobs.

I have a cordless Shark which I think is great because it is so easy to use. We still have our old Dyson, which the cleaner uses as she doesn't like the Shark. When the Dyson packs up, I will probably get her a Henry. I'll never get another Dyson because of Mr JD.

I have my old Dyson and a newer Shark, both cordless and both separate for sofa and stairs cleaning. I have the versions that deal with pet hair for both. The Shark was cheaper than the Dyson but is much better, IMO.

Shark are terrible! Ours blocks up really regularly and takes ages to clean out.
we have an old corded Dyson that is dying but has been good.
lots of people on here were recommending the Miele cat and dog one a few years ago…

We've got a samsung and its brilliant. We also have the samsung bin to empty imthe hoover in, it sucks out all of the dust etc. So there is no mess and its so easy. Would definitely recommend, I think we bought it on sale in the black Friday sales a couple of years ago.

I don’t know whether to go shark again. The one I’ve currently got I don’t rate. I’ve been looking at a gtech air ram?

Interesting to read your recommendations. I’m looking for a lightweight model for vacuuming the stairs, under the sofas and the smaller jobs. Don’t mind if it’s cordless or plug in but needs to be fairly light as I have a bad back.

JDM625 · 27/10/2025 21:13

I asked a similar question a while back- yet to buy it though as still have other vacs.

I wanted a cordless machine and several people recommended henry. I didn't realise they did a cordless, stick type! It has a bag, but the capacity is larger than the Miele I was looking at and also lighter kg's than the Miele. I can't recall if it came apart to a smaller, hand held section though?

I’ve got to ask, you’re cleaning and drying the foam filters and cleaning the fluff off around the floor roller?

campfirenights · 27/10/2025 21:30

@JDM625That’s interesting, will have a look into the cordlessHenry

I have just moved to a shark animal after years of a Dyson ball and I’m impressed. It is easy to use, well though out and easy to empty. And it’s quieter and lighter than my Dysons were.
