Really Dirty Oven

I’m nearly at the end of helping my sister get her house cleaned, sorted and declutter.

One of the last jobs is to clean her oven but it’s in such a bad state if money were not an option I’d get rid and start again!!!!!

Any tips on how to de-grease/chip away at all the layers.
I’ve a scraper tool and I’ve also a steam cleaner that I could use. My sister is willing to put in the graft if we can get her started.

Thanks in advance.

Get someone in to clean it you can afford it. They have all the equipment and chemicals and can work wonders.

Steam it, electric steam cleaner will get it all off and make it new again. Don’t even need to use any products x

Honestly if you can spare about £50 its the best money ever spent getting an oven professionally cleaned.

Sounds like you would be best to get someone in to do it, but if you want to do it yourself I would recommend

  1. Remove all shelving and racks etc
  2. Soak in caustic soda for 2-3 days in a deep tray.
  3. If the liner is removable then do the same, but test a small area as it will remove paint and might damage coatings.
  4. Spray Oven pride on interior, leave overnight
  5. Wipe off and use scourer and paint scraper with sharp blades, but be very careful not to scratch the enamel.
  6. Doors can usually be removed to make cleaning easier, or even dismantled to clean inside the glass panels. (RTFM, or google)

Use rubber gloves and eye protection it's evil stuff. Be careful with the exterior finish as the chemicals can mark them.

This stuff is great. If it's really bad you may need to leave overnight and /or do twice but honestly my oven looked like new. You can get it in all the main speakers is about £4

Get a professional in. It will be almost like new. I don't know what they use but it works, and doesn't need you to be messing around with caustic soda and scrapers. Depending on the oven (single/double) £75 -£100 locally.

Honestly, get a professional in. Though a new one isn’t stupid expensive….
