Urgent - do I need to defrost a frost free fridge freezer overnight or can I switch it off a few hours before new one arrives?

I have a new fridge freezer arriving tomorrow midday-ish. I blithely assumed that "defrosting" my old frost free fridge freezer wouldn't be necessary. My plan was to unplug it in the morning. Is that mad? I have frozen food which I can keep frozen for a few hours, but not 12 hours or so. New fridge freezer only needs to stand for an hour. I've been in touch with customer services and they have not helped. So overnight, or in the morning?
Thanks in advance.

I’d just do it in the morning load everything into insulated shopping bags. Let new freezer settle then on and loaded up.

I think it depends on what the state of your current freezer is like! Last time I had a new one I had to spend the morning of the delivery pointing my hairdryer at the old freezer and chipping off bits of ice with a kitchen knife…

But if yours is genuinely frost free then I imagine just unplugging it the morning of would be fine

Phew. Thanks.
The seals have gone, which is partly why I'm getting a new fridge freezer (mainly it's because the freezer bit is too small) but the only ice is where I spilt ice cube water in the top drawer of the freezer. And a few tiny icicles on the inside of the door.

Edited to add: Was planning to use the hairdryer on the ice water inside the drawer!

Thanks to both of you for responding. I was getting in a flap about nothing, as usual. It all went smoothly and the new fridge freezer is everything I wanted.
