Tips for cleaning INDOOR windows please

We have a window cleaner to deal with the outside window panes, and I do the inside. It takes me ages. Does anyone know of any gadgets that do a reasonable job and make it quicker ? The window cleaner whizzes round with a pre-loaded wiper thingy (with a water tank) and does a great job. Can something like that be used indoors (appreciate you’d need to wipe off excess water on frames) or is it just too wetting to use indoors ? Or do they make special versions suitable for indoors ? Or can someone out there please invent and market one for me 🤣

Don't karcher do a window cleaner for inside?

Devilsmommy · 19/10/2025 14:04

Karcher window vac. You're welcome 😁

Plump82 · 19/10/2025 14:09

Yep agree with a Karcher. I've got this one https://amzn.eu/d/3VLhmQQ and it takes about 15 mins. I love it!

Use white vinegar to eliminate smears.

Looking at the Karcher website … looks like exactly the sort of thing I’m hoping for … many thanks for the recommendations !!

I use a bowl of warm water with a very generous squirt of fairy washing up liquid. Wash the window and wipe with a cloth and then I use a different cloth to polish and shine. It's really quick and great if you have dogs.

This topic came up at my work recently and all of us who have the Karcher agreed they are a bit rubbish. You get lines on large windows and it's impossible to get the width of the rubber to match the dimensions of the window

Maybe more modern ones are better but I'd love to see a video of how people get them to work well

Exactly that, with a £1 from Ikea rubber edged window scraper and some aged but perfect vileda window cloths.

I don't get the Karcher vac. I can't use it without ending up with smears and lines on the windows.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/10/2025 15:12

I wash the windows with soapy water and use the karcher to get the wet/ dirt off, then polish with spray and a microfibre cloth.

I love my Karcher window vac. Also great in the shower and to remove condensation from inside the car and campervan windscreens.

You need to buff them out We/dh just use kitchen roll.

I found it easier to just bypass the Karcher and just use kitchen roll.

Also have a karcher which really speeds things up. I use HG exterior window cleaner

and a washing up sponge to clean them, the squeegee off with the karcher and a quick wipe round the frame with a microfiber cloth. I do my outside windows with a telescoping pole like this and the same cleaning solution.

The inside of our windows never get anything like as dirty as the outside so a wipe with Windolene on a (good quality) microfibre cloth is all that is required.

Many thanks for all the advice and comments, I’ll dig a bit more into reviews for the Karcher. I can get the windows reasonably clean (I use Essential Waitrose glass and window trigger spray, a clean microfibre cloth, then kitchen towel) but I don’t have the time to do it as often as I’d like, and am hoping to speed the process up. If I get the Karcher I’ll post here to feed back whether it’s a success. When you think of how much glass there is in some buildings there must be some good gadgets out there that professionals use ? Thanks again for taking time to reply.
