So how many towels/flannels do you use?

I'm not bothered by this but sometimes wonder if I'm missing out on something when I see huge bales of towels for sale!!

We have two bath towels each, some spares for guests & just in case & a few hand towels for after using the loo. Dd & ds have about 4-5 flannels for scrubbing their faces. And that's it!!

Do other people have bath towels & bath sheets - apart from the size, what's the difference? And where would I store them (we only have one bathroom, and no airing cupboard) - even the ones we have now annoy me because they take up so much space.

Please help one very baffled towel user.

I have about the same as you.

But I have to share about my bonkers SIL. She has a towel for drying her body after a shower (ok, normal), a towel for her bits after a shower and after using a bidet, a towel for her feet after a shower, a towel for her face, a hand towel and a flannel.

All washed after each use.

Needless to say she has no DC, and a very over-used washing machine.

We have two bath sheets each - one for use, one to wash while other is in use. A couple of spares for visitors.

Hand-towels for use in bathroom and kitchen. We do have lots of these because we're forever washing our hands after cooking, cleaning, gardening, going to the loo etc, so I change them fairly frequently. There's nothing worse than going to dry your hands and finding a soggy hand-towel!

We used to have a few smaller bath towels for when kids were smaller, bath sheets just swamped them! Now they are just used for swimming, for drying hair (my daughter and I both have long hair so use separate towels for that), and as bathmats - we have found using towels (old or cheap ones obviously!) much better than 'proper' bathmats to stand on after bathing/showering.

Beach towels - one each.

Flannels - we have about 15 or so I reckon. These are the only things that are washed after one use. All other towels go longer before being washed.

Any really old towels get relegated to cleaning duties until they fall apart!

It also depends how big your family is - those huge bales of towels might not be so huge to a biggish family. Although annoyingly, bales of towels never really have the right combination, I find, so I prefer to buy them separately.
