Cleaner for a composite sink

I am hoping for some advice. We have just moved house and our kitchen has a grey composite sink. This has become stained, mostly by tea. I have only had stainless steel or ceramic sinks before, so am not sure what to use on a composite sink to remove the stains. Obviously, I don’t want to damage it by using the wrong product.

Have any of you got recommendations for good and effective products? TIA

I would use Bar keepers friend with a soft bristle brush or non scratch scrubby sponge to remove stains. Dry with a microfiber cloth.

I would go to the manufacturer's website and see if you can find advice, or contact customer service.
I had a guest staying who ruined my lovely new sink by cleaning it with abrasive cleaner. Every time I look at it I am cross.

Hi,

I have one of these too and it was quite stained a while ago.

I figured out a scheme as follows:

Clean the sink with hot soapy water to remove a thin layer of soap/fat/gunk.Sometimes I fill the sink wth hot water and soap and let it sit to get fully clean. The scrub with a scourer sponge.

Then clearn with viakal to remove limescale. The limescale comes off better if I spray the viakal all over and then spread with a sponge and then put kitchen towel over to keep it in place and leave overnight. Then scrub with a scourer in the morning to get the softened limescale off.

Then after that the tea stains will definitely be exposed so I can clean them off.

Next I put tesco spray bleach on it and leave it for 5 full minutes. It really works wonders. You have to spray it on and they spread the bleach around with a sponge to cover the whole area, and then leave it there while you time 5 minuts on your watch. Then clean it off.

After all of those three steps it should be clean. If it isn't, then it's worth thinking what the actual stain is.

I once got silver nitrate on my worktop and that stained in a way that didn't work with this cleaning plan, and I got that off with sandpaper. The worktop looks brand new.

Hope that helps. I do really like my composite sink and enjoy keeping it all sparkly.

If it were mine, I would replace the sink with a ceramic one! Composite sinks are terrible for staining, in my experience. You can spend ages cleaning it but as soon as you next empty a teacup or rinse away coffee grounds or wash out a tomato sauce bottle, it's stained again!
Save yourself the bother and get a different sink.

Mine's really okay actually. It doesn't stain much and I love the colour. It's a really lovely sort of beige colour and very soothing on the eye. I love that, because I spend really a large part of my day looking at it as I work.

If it's an old one it might be worth replacing. I got our new when we had the kitchen redone.

@AutumnLeavesAgain2 and @Icon15 it’s a new sink, so we won’t be replacing it! I just want to get rid of the stains without damaging the surface.
