Is it weird to have a schedule on the wall?

Would you think it a bit weird to go into someone's house and see a schedule for the day on the wall?
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with a lot to do and Chat GPT generated a schedule to manage my time and I was considering putting it on the wall so everyone is aware of what needs doing and when. Does that seem a bit controlling though?
I have 4 kids including baby twins and getting everything done for the children, plus lunchboxes in the evenings, cooking (I try to cook from scratch and we eat together as a family), keeping on top of the housework, endless washing, my own post natal physio etc, I feel like I'm drowning!
Not that the kids will look at the schedule and think oh let's get off PlayStation and make our lunchboxes for tomorrow 😅 but I think it would help me if nothing else. But if you saw a schedule on the wall in someone's house would you think it weird?

This is absolutely no different to having a calendar on the wall, listing out family activities etc, or having a handheld diary/planner/phone calendar. If it works for you and helps you feel more in control, and see at a glance what needs doing well, go for it. Great idea OP!

I'd think you were sensible and organised and be a bit jealous that you had made a schedule and could stick to it.

Newnamehiwhodis · 24/09/2025 05:44

Not weird at all. It helps me sometimes, when I’m overwhelmed, to see everything laid out in front of me.
do whatever works for you!

Not weird at all but if I had baby twins my dc would be having school lunches.

When I had to wrangle one baby and one three year old, we ate an awful lot of roast chicken, coleslaw, new potatoes and salad.--sometimes quiche, shop bought, instead. There's also nothing wrong with soup and a toastie and fruit and Yoghurt.

I shall never forget the exponential extra laundry created by the arrival of the second. Dry dc uniform on hangers and don't iron unnecessarily. Let the duvet covers and pillow cases go a week longer than the bottom sheet. Towels don't need washing mire than once a week if everyone has their own set.

No different than having a list of tasks written in a diary (as I do) or on your phone. I am a planner so I like to work through my list and tick things off as I do them. I would recognise you as a fellow planner.

Thanks for the replies! Now I just
need to find time to make a schedule 😅
Good to know it wouldn't be a weird thing to do though. Thank you 😊

I have a whole wall that is a whiteboard - with a weekly and monthly schedule. Saves my life !

do it

RedwallMattimeo · 26/09/2025 15:50

We had a weekly whiteboard in our porch which was a combination of what child was doing what on which day and what kit they needed along with specific tasks that needed doing that week. We had it throughout the primary years. It worked brilliantly. Visitiors always commented on it, some adopted something similar themselves.

My friend is a teacher and also has 4 kids. She has a mini whiteboard on her fridge with weekly meals, kids' chores, clubs, trips, appointments etc. it's brilliant ! it's basic, nothing fancy, but works.

I was out with a friend last night who was telling me about something called Skylite. It sounds like a genius invention

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 27/09/2025 08:53

Not weird. Wonderful idea. Seen it in person and on tv. Stacey Solomon even updated one Mums makeshift one (the Mum had written on the cupboard with a drawing marker) with a proper schedule board. Looked great.

Maybe an odd thing to keep in mind but make sure it's not viable through any windows

They had an ex-burglar on radio 2 recently and he said they will look through windows to see calendars and to know when the house will be empty

but apart from that it's great idea
