Magic eraser x

gingertomfromnextdoor · 14/09/2025 12:01

Cream cleaner (Cif type), green scratchy, elbow grease

Seamoss · 14/09/2025 12:36

Cif cream cleaner and fine wire wool

MousseMousse · 14/09/2025 12:39

Scrub with bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar (not together)

Or barkeepers friend

Astonish or Pink Stuff.

Hazelforever · 14/09/2025 12:41

Bleach - oops just seen you've tried that!

JadziaD · 14/09/2025 12:43

Bleach will work, but you need to leave it to soak. Quarter fill the sink with warm water, a generous squeeze of bleach and some washing up liquid and leave overnight.

But I thihnk it's actuall ylimescale o some sort. When I needed to clean SIL's kitchen secretly afteer I'd cooked there (the stains had been driving me mad for WEEKS), I used bathroom cleaner with limescale remover in it. Lot more elbow grease, but the experience of going over to her house was infinitely more pleasurable for the next few weeks! Grin

minipie · 14/09/2025 12:45

I’d try magic sponge

Sgtmajormummy · 14/09/2025 12:54

It looks like you need a scrubbing brush with strong plastic bristles to get into the plug hole rings and stopper.
In order of strength
Cif liquid
Pink stuff
Bar keepers friend powder
always scrubbing and leave to soak.

Lidl’s version of Cillit Bang (bleach spray) did a good job on tea stains on my resin sink, but yours look like coffee grounds.

Mildandcreamyricotta · 14/09/2025 13:50

Thanks all!! I’ve just tried a bit of bicarbonate of soda and it seems to be working! I need to stock up as only had enough for a small area but I reckon it will do the trick. Amazing, thanks all for your help!

If it's lime scale use Harpic toilet cleaner in black bottle.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 14/09/2025 14:01

If it's lime scale then leave to soak in strong white vinegar/water solution then scrub.

EndofDaze · 14/09/2025 14:02

Milton fluid

wavingfuriously · 14/09/2025 14:09

@Mildandcreamyricotta can you let us know if it works please? I've ruined a lovely new acrylic bathroom sink by putting coffee grounds in it...tried everything 🙃

@wavingfuriously- I’ve just ordered a big tub of bicarbonate of soda as I only had a small tube, but what I’ve used seems to be working for sure!! I’ll update when I’ve done the proper job on Tuesday!

+1 for Barkeepers friend. Its usually more effective than cream cleaner. The sink will polish up really well afterwards too. Cheap and easy to use.

If it's lime scale use Harpic toilet cleaner in black bottle.

Bleachy toilet cleaner will shift it.

Don't do this! It can ruin chrome and stainless steel finishes.

PrincessofWells · 30/11/2025 12:28

Just a word of warning about Pink Stuff/barkeepers friend and other abrasive/gritty cleaners. Don't use them if you have a flip plug, the grit gets caught and jams the plug swivel. It's a pita to get them freed up, took me ages.
