Just moved into our new house, bought a lovely induction hob and new pans
only bloody forgot to take the sticker off and now I’ve burnt the induction and the bottom of the pan 🤦🏼‍♀️
im gutted, is it irreparable?

Have you tried HobBrite?

Blissker · 07/09/2025 12:47

I would try Hob Brite and maybe get a glass scraper - like a razor blade held in a plastic handle. You can get them in B&Q for scraping paint off windows etc. Dipping a DW tablet in a bit of hot water and scrubbing with it is also worth a try.

Glass is pretty inert, I think you have a good chance it'll come off.

Scraper as PP said. Baking soda paste or Barkeepers Friend.

It looks like it’s burnt the glass

You could try a magic sponge?

Hob tops are replaceable - we had a guy come and change ours and it was a quick job for him. Re the pan you can shift burnt on stuff inside a pan by boiling water with laundry detergent or a DW tablet for quite a while (10/15 mins) on a rolling boil. I wonder if you could rig up some way of doing that with the bottom of your pan, maybe in a wok or something. Or if not, fill a washing up bowl with kettle hot water & detergent & leave to soak overnight.

Can you feel burnt material when you run your finger over over it?
Rather than risk scratching the glass, boil some water in a pan on it and quickly wipe hard with kitchen paper. You may have to repeat it a few times.

The oven cleaner man cleaned ours…no idea what he used.

Are you sure it's actually burned? As a pp said, is the glass indented? The hobs are designed to withstand high heat for a long time so I wonder if it's just marked. My husband left a kettle on boil for hours and the hob looked wrecked (killed the Le Creuset kettle) but I just kept cleaning the mark as usual assuming it was permanent and it went.
